THE BLOOMSBURG-CLARION SERIES
Bloomsburg leads, 14-12
The Huskies have won the past two meetings in the series, with both games being nailbiters. In 2011-12, BU walked away with an 87-85 win over the Golden Eagles and just two points separated the teams again last year when the Huskies were victorious, 66-64 at Nelson Field House on Jan. 12, 2013.
Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy) made the game-winning free throws with 11 seconds to play to break a late tie and led the Huskies in scoring with 17 points.
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) and
Zach Sheetz (Landisville/Hempfield) each added 13 and 10 points respectively.
THE BLOOMSBURG-UPJ SERIES
UPJ leads, 19-10
Though Bloomsburg and UPJ were members of different conferences prior to this year, the two schools have a long history with each other in men's basketball, meeting every season since 1999. UPJ got the best of the Huskies at Nelson Field House on Nov. 10, 2012, 70-58, in last year's season-opener. After a back-and-forth first half, the Huskies closed to within four with 8:17 to play, but UPJ never allowed BU to get any closer. Nick Novak led all scorers with 27 points for UPJ while
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) paced the Huskies with 16 points. In 2011, the Huskies scored a thrilling 74-72 win in Johnstown thanks to 18 points from Christmas. The 2010 game also was decided by a bucket with UPJ scoring a 70-68 triumph on its home floor. The home team has dominated the series with the Huskies going 6-3 vs. UPJ at Nelson Field House since 1999.
