EAST STROUDSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to 20th-ranked East Stroudsburg, 102-44, on Wednesday night in the regular season finale for both teams.
The loss drops the Huskies to the fifth seed in the upcoming PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) playoffs. Bloomsburg will travel to face fourth seed Mansfield on Saturday at 7 p.m.
East Stroudsburg jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the game before the Huskies'
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) converted a three-point play with 16:39 left in the half. The Warriors then went on a 10-2 run to go on top 16-5. A
Nasir Jones (Philadelphia/Franklin Learning Center) layup pulled Bloomsburg to within 23-9 with under 10 minutes to go in the half. The Warriors, though, took control of the game going on a 16-0 run over the next six minutes to lead 42-9 with 2:55 left and went to halftime leading 46-12.
Bloomsburg struggled from the floor in the opening half shooting just 15.4 percent (4-26) from the floor, while East Stroudsburg shot 65.4 percent (17-26) in the first 20 minutes. For the game the Warriors shot nearly 64 percent from the floor (37-58).
In the second half the Warriors continued to build upon its lead and led by as many as 59 points late in the game.
East Stroudsburg, 21-5, 18-4 PSAC, had five players in doubles figures led by Wes Cherry with 18 points.
The Huskies, 8-18, 6-16 PSAC, were led by Jones with 10 points, while Christmas and
Wes Lyons (Millville/Millville) each scored nine points.
With its playoff berth, Bloomsburg will be making back-to-back PSAC post-season appearances for the first time since the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons.
