NASHVILLE, TN—The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday by scores of 11-0 and 8-5.
The Huskies dropped the opener of the twinbill 11-0 with
Joey Casselberry (Eagleville/Methacton) getting a double for Bloomsburg. The home team scored twice in the first inning, then broke the game open with six runs in the second.
In game two the Trojans scored single runs in the first and second innings, then put four on the board in the third to lead 6-0. Bloomsburg rallied in the top of the fourth with runs.
Corey Baiada (Harleysville/LaSalle) led off the fourth with a single and went to third on a double by
Brian Almand (Haddon Township, NJ/Paul VI). Both runners came in on a double to left by
Tim Kurucz (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) to make it 6-2.
Aaron Russell (Montoursville/Montoursville) then walked which prompted a pitching change for Trevecca Nazarene. After a double play ground ball,
Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson) reached on a throwing error with Kurucz coming around to score. On the play Ravel moved to second.
Brad Smith (Morgantown/Twin Valley) then walked putting runners at first and second. Casselberry then singled up the middle scoring Ravel to make it 6-4.
Trevecca Nazarene got two back with single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. In the sixth the Huskies got a leadoff walk from
A.J. Stump (Reading/Antietam) with Ravel reaching on an infield single. Both runners moved up on a passed ball. After a fly out, Stump scored on a sacrifice fly by Casselberry.
In the seventh the Huskies went in order and lost 8-5.
Bryan Morris (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Catholic) took the loss on the mound, while Casselberry went 3-3 with two RBI to lead the offense.
Bloomsburg, 4-7, will play another twinbill at Trevecca Nazarene on Monday at 1 p.m.
