LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Despite pounding the Lock Haven pitching staff for 20 hits and 11 runs, Bloomsburg was outslugged by the Bald Eagles 17-11.

The 20 hits were the most for the Huskies since the offense churned out the same number against Washington Adventist on the final day of the 2010 season.  With 11 runs, BU matched its season-high.

A.J. Stump (Reading/Antietam) had four hits for Bloomsburg, while the trio of Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson), Nickolas Eversole (Lewistown/Indian Valley) and Joey Casselberry (Eagleville/Methacton) had three apiece.

In the first, Brian Almand (Haddon Township, NJ/Paul VI) doubled in Ravel and scored himself on an RBI single by Stump for a 2-0 lead.

Lock Haven struck back in the bottom of the second with five runs on just two hits.  The Bald Eagles drew three walks in the inning and another batter was hit by a pitch.

Bloomsburg chipped away at the deficit in the third when Casselberry scored on a single down the line in right by Tim Kurucz (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) to make it 5-3.

LHU score once in the third and added six more in the fifth and appeared to put the game out of reach with a 12-3 advantage.  The Husky offense was not done, however, scoring seven runs in the top of the sixth to trim the lead to 12-10.

Aaron Russell (Montoursville/Montoursville) singled with one out and Ravel followed with a walk to put two runners on.  Eversole proceeded to rip a 3-1 pitch for a double to left center, scoring Russell. Casselberry brought two more runs home with a double of his own to make it 12-6.  After a single by Almand out runners on the corners, Stump singled in a run. James Ott (Massapequa/Massapequa) was then hit by a pitch to load the bases and a single by Kurucz and walk by Nick Mazza (Carbondale/Carbondale) made it 12-9. Ravel reached base for the second time in the inning with a run-scoring single up the middle for the final run of the inning.

Lock Haven responded with five straight singles during a five-run bottom half of the inning to extend the lead to 17-10.

The Huskies tried to rally in the ninth. Eversole and Casselberry singled back-to-back and an error by LHU let Eversole score, but the Bald Eagles got out of the inning without further damage to close out the game.

All nine players in the Bloomsburg lineup reached base, including eight different players with hits and seven with multi-hit efforts.  Eversole, Casselberry, Almand, and Stump eached doubled in the game.

Cody Heane (McClure/Indian Valley) started on the mound and took the loss, allowing the first five Lock Haven runs. Matt Hurd (Orefield/Parkland), the last of six Bloomsburg pitchers in the game, threw two scoreless innings, struck out a batter and allowed one hit.

Garrett Shnyder claimed the win despite allowing six runs in 5.1 innings. Austin Botts had four hits and four RBIs for LHU.

The Huskies (4-19) will look to get back in the win column during a busy weekend with six games in three days.  Bloomsburg travels to No. 13 Kutztown on April 5 for a PSAC East doubleheader on Friday, April 5. After the Golden Bears make the return trip on Saturday, Bloomsburg hosts non-conference rival Philadelphia at Danny Litwhiler Field on Sunday, April 7. All three twinbills are slated for 1 p.m. starts.
