SCOUTING MANSFIELD
Despite a rough start to the season, the Mountaineers have won two of three with victories vs. Millersville and Shippensburg on their home floor to work themselves back into playoff contention.
Mansfield ranks ninth in the PSAC in offense at 74.5 points per game, but has struggled defensively. The Mountaineers rank last in the conference in points allowed – surrendering 79.8 points to opponents. While Mansfield hasn't had much trouble putting up points of its own, not much of their production comes from beyond the arc – they are shooting under 30 percent (29.8%) from 3-point land on the year. Turnovers have also been an issue – Mansfield ranks 17th in the conference in turnover margin at -2.76.
Junior forward Joe Bell is one of the PSAC's standout players, ranking third in the conference in scoring at 21.5 ppg while adding 7.4 rebounds per game. Bell has scored in double figures in all but two games this year (eight vs. Franklin Pierce in the season-opener and eight vs. Cheyney on Dec. 7) including a 41-point outburst in the win over Millersville on Jan. 11. His 14 made field goals in that game are a season high for the entire PSAC. Senior guard Charles Becoats (14.4 ppg) and junior forward Charles Pemberton (11.6 ppg) also add double figure scoring.
THE BLOOMSBURG-MANSFIELD SERIES

The Huskies will go for their 100th all-time victory against Mansfield in the 172nd meeting between the schools in men's basketball. Mansfield won the last meeting at Nelson Field House last February, 73-66.
Wes Lyons (Millville/Millville) scored 19 points and
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) added 15 while Charles Becoats had 15 and Joe Bell 11 points. Previous to that game, Bloomsburg had won three straight games in the series after sweeping a pair of games in 2011-12.
