SCOUTING SHIPPENSBURG
The Raiders have started the season strong, already matching their win total of a year ago with three straight victories to begin the year. Saturday will mark the conference opener and first road game for Shippensburg, which has begun the year with three home wins over Georgian Court (77-54), Felician (79-68) and Wilmington (80-75). Their last contest went to overtime as junior Jay Hardy hit a game-tying 3-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation to send the game to an extra period before the Raiders would prevail.

Shippensburg has benefitted from the return of senior forward Dylan Edgar, the reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week after averaging 14.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in the first two games of the year. It is just the fourth time in the last five-plus seasons that a Shippensburg player has won conference athlete of the week. Edgar missed all of last season due to injury.

Picked to finish eighth in the PSAC East Preseason Coaches Poll, the Raiders return four of five starters from last season, but lost leading scorer Joe Lococo (12.3 ppg), who transferred to West Liberty following the year.

THE BLOOMSBURG-SHIPPENSBURG SERIES
Bloomsburg leads 100-67

Bloomsburg has the upper hand in the long-running series which dates back to the 1910-11 season when Shippensburg won the first-ever meeting, 33-9. Shippensburg swept the season series in 2012-13 after Bloomsburg won both games during the 2011-12 campaign. The Huskies continued the trend of alternating season sweeps by taking both games from the Raiders last year - winning at Shippensburg, 80-61, in the first meeting on the road before capping the season sweep with a dominating 78-53 win at Nelson Field House on Feb. 8 behind 15 points, five rebounds and four assists from Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy). Moustapha Noumbissi (Upper Darby/Delaware County Christian School) also pitched in 12 points and six rebounds that day.
