Men's Swimming Posts Victories at Crimson Hawk Dual Challenge

INDIANA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's swim team completed an impressive weekend showing at the Crimson Hawk Dual Challenge by taking victories over Gannon, 252-114, and host IUP, 206-169.

Jake Harner (Philadelphia/Father Judge) captured the win in the 100 yard breaststroke with his mark of 58.60, a PSAC qualifying time. Bryan Masilotti (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) was also victorious, touching first in the 100 yard backstroke with a PSAC qualifying time of 55.49.

Brandon Sherbo (Etters/Red Land) gave the Huskies another individual win in the 1000 yard freestyle with his time of 9:51.52. Also meeting the PSAC qualifying standard in the event were Mark DiLemmo (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) at 10:17.00 and Chris McPeak (Philadelphia/La Salle College) at 10:20.07.

Alex Otero (Allentown/Parkland) gave Bloomsburg the victory in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.58 and was joined in meeting the conference standard by teammates Aaron Cancro (Limerick/Spring-Ford) (2:00.22) and Andrew Brady (2:01.24), who took second and third respectively.

Bloomsburg seized another win in the 100 yard freestyle with the performance of Michael Anderson (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh) who touched in a conference qualifying time of 47.57, ahead of teammates Harner and Masilotti, both of whom also met the PSAC standard at 47.65 and 47.67 respectively.

A pair of Huskies relay teams also were winners: In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the team of Masilotti, Harner, Anderson and Eric Usbeck (Lake Ariel/Wallenpaupack Area) won with their time of 3:13.30. In the 800 yard freestyle, the relay team of Anderson, Otero, Sherbo and Cole Underwood (Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley) earned the win at 7:12.58.

Also reaching PSAC qualifying times were: Collin Junk (Pennsburg/Upper Perkiomen) and Nolan Schneider (Flemington/Hunterdon) in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:15.06 and 2:18.14 respectively; McPeak in the 400 yard IM (4:24.88) along with Sherbo (4:28.97) and Junk (4:30.02); Matt Ortlieb (North Wales/North Penn) (53.75), Usbeck (54.15) and Tom Malloy (Lancaster/Lancaster Catholic) (54.57) in the 100 yard butterfly; Malloy in the 200 yard butterfly at 2:02.14; Anderson (1:46.11), Nick Angeny (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) (1:50.33) and Ian Boyd (Whitehall/Whitehall) (1:50.99) in the 200 yard freestyle; and Junk in the 100 yard breaststroke time trial (1:01.76).  

The Huskies will now look toward the PSAC Championships scheduled for Feb. 19-23 in York.
