EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team closed to within five points with 5:22 remaining before No. 6 East Stroudsburg exploded over the final minutes for a 93-77 victory on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.

East Stroudsburg (23-1, 13-1) clinched the PSAC East regular season title with the win.

ESU opened the game on an 11-0 run and led by as many as 18 points during the first half, taking a 50-38 lead into halftime.

The Huskies (14-9, 9-4) charged back during the second half, however. Bloomsburg used a 12-5 run over the opening portion of the second period to close within seven at 62-55 with 12:28 to play. ESU stretched the lead to 10 again with 8:49 to go, but Bloomsburg made another push to pull to a 75-70 score on a layup from
Jon Riles (Philadelphia/Academy of the New Church) at the 5:22 mark.

It would be as close as the Huskies would get, though. East Stroudsburg responded by finishing the game on an 18-7 break to storm away in the final minutes.

Alssene Saintilus (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) posted a strong day, finishing with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor to lead the Huskies offense.
Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) poured in 18 points while three players – Riles,
Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy) and
Andrew Morgan (New Brunswick, NJ/St. Joseph's) all finished with 11 points.

Bloomsburg shot 54.7 percent from the floor (29-53) while ESU finished at a 49.3 percent clip (33-67). ESU won the battle of the boards, 34-30.

Whis Grant paced ESU with 22 points.

Next up is a crucial PSAC East battle with West Chester on Wednesday night at Nelson Field House. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. Though the top seed in the PSAC East portion of the conference playoff bracket is secured, Bloomsburg is still in play for the second seed and a bye in the first round. With a win on Saturday vs. Shippensburg, West Chester moved to 10-4 in the conference standings, though the Huskies currently hold the head-to-head tiebreaker after a win in the first meeting of the year.

GAME NOTES: Morgan established a new career-high in scoring in maroon and gold with his performance after receiving his second start of the season … The Huskies shot over 50 percent for the seventh time this season.
