BLOOMSBURG—Despite a double-double from
Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) and a season-high 14 points from
Ed Hall (Washington, DC/Paint Branch), the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team lost to Kutztown University, 73-64, in the regular season finale for both teams. Before the game the Huskies honored the six senior members of its team: Jordan, Hall,
Armand Leaks (Philadelphia/The Shipley School),
Jamar Smack (Philadelphia/State College),
Andrew Morgan (New Brunswick, NJ/St. Joseph's), and
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown).

The Huskies jumped out on top early in the game with Hall scoring Bloomsburg's first six points giving the home team a 6-2 lead through the first three minutes of play. Kutztown came back and took the lead at 12-9 when Martin Dietrich hit a three-pointer with 14:19 to go in the opening half.

The teams went back and forth over the next 11 minutes with four ties and three lead changes before Hall's layup put Bloomsburg on top 24-22 with under three minutes to play in the half. The Huskies went to the locker room leading by six points, 31-25, after a pair free throws from
Jon Riles (Philadelphia/Academy of the New Church) with five seconds remaining.

In the second half the Huskies started quickly and pushed the advantage to 10 points, 37-27, on a monster dunk by
Alssene Saintilus (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) with 18:40 left in the game. Kutztown though rallied and went on a 34-6 run over the next 13 minutes to go up by 18 points, 61-43, with 5:00 to go.

Trailing by 18 points with three and half minutes to play, the Huskies began a furious comeback. Jordan scored eight straight points for Bloomsburg getting two layups, a three-pointer and a free throw to narrow the gap back to 10 points with 1:34 left.

Following a missed free throw by Jordan,
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) drained a 3-pointer to make it 64-57 with 1:27 to go. After a couple of free throws from Kutztown's Fred Dukes, Christmas drained another 3-pointer to make it a two-possession game with 1:10 left at 66-60.

Following a Kutztown layup, Morgan hit two free throws for Bloomsburg to once again close the gap to six points, 68-62. That would be as close as the Huskies would get as the Golden Bears hit five of six from the free throw line in the final minute to seal the win.

Kutztown, 10-16, 8-8 in the PSAC East, got 21 points from Tracy Peal, while Josh Johnson scored 20 and Dietrich added 18.

Bloomsburg, 15-11, 10-6 in the PSAC East, got 18 points and 13 rebounds from Jordan, his eighth double-double of the season. Hall scored a season-high 14 points on 7-11 shooting, while grabbing three rebounds in just 18 minutes.

These two teams will meet again in the first round of the PSAC playoffs on Saturday at the Nelson Field House starting at 2 p.m. Bloomsburg will be the third seed in the playoffs, while Kutztown will be the sixth seed.
