STORYLINE
The Huskies make their second trip South this weekend, playing a weekend set at Barton College with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday and a single game slated for Sunday afternoon. Bloomsburg went 4-2 during their stay at the Builder Invitational in Hampton, Va., last weekend and will also travel to Tennessee twice for six games later this month.
Â
WINNING STREAK ON THE LINE
Bloomsburg brings a three-game winning streak to Barton after defeating Kutztown, 9-1, last Saturday before dropping Briarcliffe, 14-1, and Apprentice School, 9-1, last Sunday.

HUSKIES RISING THROUGH THE RECORD BOOKS
Senior pitcher
Casey Cooperman (Allentown/Parkland) turned in a stellar first start of the year vs. Kutztown last Saturday, throwing a complete game with a career-high nine strikeouts and did not allow an earned run. Cooperman registered his 12th career win with the Huskies, moving into a tie for eighth place all-time with Jed Custer (1993-96) and Casey Markey (2004-07). He is also 10th all-time in innings pitched with 167.1 and with 119 career strikeouts he needs only seven more to reach the BU top 10. He also now has nine complete games, two away from the Bloomsburg top 10.

Redshirt junior
Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson) is also climbing the Huskies record books – he swiped four bases at the Builder Invitational and now has 33 career stolen bases, good for a tie for seventh in school history with Aaron Welles (1997-2000).

ROTATION ROCK SOLID
Key to the Huskies' winning start in Virginia was the tremendous showing by their starting pitching. The team currently has a 2.98 ERA as a staff, but the starters have been even better. Cooperman and sophomore
Matt Jaskolka (Warren/Warren Area) both have perfect ERAs – Jaskolka tossed six scoreless innings in a win on Sunday, allowing only three hits in six innings of work.
Tyler Hill (Lehighton/Lehighton) also worked eight innings of one-run ball while
Cody Heane (McClure/Indian Valley) has made two appearances and one start with an ERA of 1.50. Senior
Kyle Hunter (Lehighton/Lehighton) also only allowed one earned run in his first start of the year.
Â
IMPRESSIVE DEBUTS
Freshman catcher
Damin Muth (Breinigsville/Parkland) got his Huskies career off on the right foot, posting hits in six of eight at-bats during the Builder Invitational. He's also second on the team with six RBIs, behind only
Joey Casselberry (Eagleville/Methacton)'s nine. Another new Husky made an impressive debut last weekend as junior transfer
Eric Frain (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) took over the leadoff spot and knocked in six RBIs to place in a tie with Muth for second on the team.

SCOUTING BARTON
Barton has had a tough schedule, dropping two of three to nationally-ranked Seton Hill and has lost three straight with all three games coming against the past two Southeast Regional champions in Coker and Catawba. Barton is 4-8 on the season and just 1-4 at home after being picked to finish eighth in the Conference Carolinas preseason coaches poll. A veteran group, the Bulldogs have seven seniors in the regular starting lineup and three-fourths of the rotation are also seniors. In the early going, the Bulldogs have struggled at the plate with a team batting average of .201 but have been much stronger on the mound with a 3.45 team ERA.

NEXT UP
