CHEYNEY, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's basketball team will try to sweep the season series from PSAC East rival Cheyney with a road trip on Thursday night to Cope Hall. The Huskies defeated Cheyney, 72-57, at home on Dec. 4 in the first match-up of the year.
Bloomsburg will look to make it back-to-back wins after knocking off Lock Haven. 77-76, on Saturday to maintain sole possession of second place in the PSAC East standings. Both Bloomsburg and West Chester own 7-3 divisional records, but Bloomsburg currently holds the head-to-head tiebreaker. Cheyney, meanwhile, won its last outing, 62-58 at Shippensburg on Saturday.
SCOUTING CHEYNEY
Cheyney snapped what was an 11-game losing skid with a 62-58 road win over Shippensburg in their last game. Deshawn Curtis led the Wolves with 27 points, his 19th game this season in double figures. Calvin Brown also finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, posting his fourth double-double of the season. Prior to last Saturday, Cheyney's last win was a victory at Cope Hall over Mansfield. Cheyney stands 15th in rebounding at a -3.7 margin and 10th in turnover margin at -0.4.
Deshawn Curtis is the PSAC's leading scorer at 21.4 ppg – averaging 35 percent of Cheyney's per game scoring. Jerrod Johnson is the only other Cheyney player averaging double figures at 12.8 ppg.
