NASHVILLE, TN—Tyler Hill (Lehighton/Lehighton) pitched three innings of one-hit relief and Tim Kurucz (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) drove in the game winning run with a ninth inning sacrifice fly to lead the Bloomsburg University baseball team to a 5-4 win over Trevecca Nazarene on Monday.

With the score tied 4-4 in the top of the ninth, the Huskies Eric Frain (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) reached on a throwing error by the second baseman and moved to second on a wild pitch. After Nick Mazza (Carbondale/Carbondale) walked Joey Casselberry (Eagleville/Methacton) sacrificed the runners over to second and third. Corey Baiada (Harleysville/LaSalle) was walked intentionally to load the bases. Kurucz then flied out to right with Frain tagging up and scoring the go-ahead run.

In the bottom of the ninth Hill worked out of a jam to preserve the win. The Trojans put two runners on with two outs before Hill got a fly-out on a 2-2 pitch to end the game.

The game was scoreless through the first five innings. The Huskies did threaten in both the top of the third and fourth innings, but could not push across a run.

Bloomsburg (7-7) finally broke through in the sixth inning. With two outs Damin Muth (Breinigsville/Parkland) doubled to left with Brad Smith (Morgantown/Twin Valley) following with a double to right plating Muth with the game's first run.

Trevecca Nazarene (16-4) answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Trojans put together three hits and took advantage of two errors and a couple of wild pitches to go up 4-1.

The Huskies tied the score in the top of the eighth by scoring three times. Mazza led off the inning with single, but was erased when Casselberry reached on a fielder's choice. Baiada then singled to center with Casselberry moving to second. Muth singled through the left side to load the bases. After a strikeout for out number two, Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson) was hit by a pitch forcing in a run. Brian Almand (Haddon Township, NJ/Paul VI) then singled to left scoring Baiada and pinch runner Pete Edgar (Hatfield/North Penn) with the tying run setting up the ninth inning heroics.

Muth was the only Bloomsburg player to get more than one hit with Almand driving in two runs with his one hit. Hill got his second win of the season against one loss allowing just one hit, walking two and fanning three in three innings.
