BLOOMSBURG – For the second consecutive match, the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team did its part to jumble the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Atlantic Region rankings by scoring another 1-0 victory over a regionally ranked team, this time coming away victorious on Saturday afternoon at Mercyhurst.

It is the second 1-0 blanking of a regionally ranked foe this week after the Huskies scored a 1-0 win over Gannon, ranked second in the region and No. 17 nationally, on Wednesday. Mercyhurst entered Saturday's action ranked fifth in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire Division II Atlantic Region poll.

Chrissy Hollan (Laurys Station/Parkland) broke the scoreless deadlock with the only goal of the match in the 76th minute. The deciding tally by Hollan came off a penalty kick following a Mercyhurst foul in the box. Hollan beat the Lakers' keeper to the top shelf, going to the right of the net for the score.

The junior posted a strong all-around game, repeatedly proving herself pesky against the Mercyhurst defense. Hollan registered four shots on the day, all on goal, forcing frequent work from Lakers keeper Kristen Koch, who made seven saves.

Megan Deak (West Islip, NY/West Islip) again was stellar in net for the Huskies, recording her second straight shutout with seven saves. The freshman keeper has allowed just one goal in three starts over the past week, posting 20 saves with a goals against average of 0.33.

Mercyhurst had perhaps its best chance in the 39th minute, but Deak was able to turn away a shot attempt from Mercyhurst's Lauren Testa.

The two teams were evenly matched in shots with both sides firing six shots in the first half and seven in the second for a total of 13 shots apiece. Both teams also placed seven shots on goal.

The Huskies improved to 2-2 on the season with the same record in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play while Mercyhurst suffered the first blemish to its record, falling to 2-1-1.

Bloomsburg returns home on Tuesday for its first non-conference match of the year, hosting Chestnut Hill at Steph Pettit Stadium at 4 p.m.
