Final ResultsINDIANA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's swimming team had an impressive showing at the John A. Pidgeon Invitational, hosted by Indiana (PA), over the weekend. After jumping out to sizeable leads over IUP and Gannon on Friday, the Huskies pulled away on Saturday to sweep both schools.
Bloomsburg was able to hold off the Crimson Hawks, 216-177, but had a bit of an easier time with the Golden Knights, 266-99.
The Huskies started day two with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:35.42), edging the Crimson Hawks' team by two-tenths of a second.
Junior
Eric Usbeck (Lake Ariel/Wallenpaupack Area) had a pair of victories on Saturday, including a season-best time of 57.53 in the 100-yard breaststroke which shattered his previous best of 59.79. Usbeck also posted a victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.98.
Sophomore
Sam Feiser (Pottstown/OJ Roberts), junior
A.J. Brady (Wilmington, DE/Delaware Military Academy), and senior
Alex Otero (Allentown/Parkland) also had wins on day two. Feiser edged teammate, junior
Ryan Paisley (Hazleton/Hazleton Area), in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.89. Brady held off IUP's Noah Brockway in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 53.22. Otero also edged Brockway in the 200-yard backstroke with a PSAC-qualifying, and season-best, time of 1:56.46.
The Huskies concluded the day with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:08.12), besting the Crimson Hawks of IUP by just over two seconds.
Junior
Chris McPeak (Philadelphia/La Salle College), senior
Ian Boyd (Whitehall/Whitehall), and senior
Frank Eichhorn (Reading/Exeter Township) also posted PSAC qualifying times in time trial events on Saturday. McPeak finished in 1:02.44 in the 100-yard breaststroke, Boyd swam the 50-yard freestyle in 22.60, and Eichhorn qualified in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.27.
Next up for the Huskies are the PSAC Championships in York, Pennsylvania. The tournament will be held from February 18 to February 21.
