COMPLETE RESULTS
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's swimming team won its second consecutive meet as it posted a 109.5-90.5 victory over visiting Clarion University at the Nelson Field House Pool on Friday night. The Huskies improved to 2-2 on the season while the Golden Eagles dropped to 1-3 on the season. Bloomsburg posted 21 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) marks during the dual.
Senior
Sam Feiser (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) totaled three victories, including two individual wins, on the night. Sophomore
Jordan Wyant (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) also had a great showing with a pair of individual victories. Sophomore
Doug Boehme (Blue Bell, Pa./Buxmont Christian Academy) was the other individual winner of the night for the Huskies.
The Huskies started strong with a convincing victory in the 200-yard medley relay, winning the event by nearly three seconds over Clarion. The team consisted of senior
Josh Grzech (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood), senior
Paul Rocchi (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), Feiser, and sophomore
Colin Bauer (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts). Bloomsburg touched the wall in 1:35.63 with Feiser's split of 22.15 in the butterfly proving to be the turning point. Bauer sealed the win with a time of 21.49 in his freestyle split.
Boehme won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:55.44 - just over two seconds faster than Clarion's Nathan Porter - to pick up Bloomsburg's second win of the evening. Boehme's time is now the third-fastest time in the PSAC this season. Wyant followed with the fastest time in the conference (1:43.81) to secure a victory in the 200-yard freestyle. Senior
Alex McCullough (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) also swam well in the event, finishing third with a PSAC mark of 1:46.02.
Bloomsburg won its fourth consecutive race when Feiser won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.33. Freshman
Noah Cancro (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) tied for second with Clarion's Joseph Folz, touching the wall in 21.92, while freshman
Collin Hummel (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) placed fourth with a mark of 22.05. All three qualified for the conference meet in February.
Feiser earned his third victory of the night with a win in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 50.43 - nearly three-and-a-half seconds faster than Cancro who finished second. Bauer was third with a time of 53.85. All three, along with junior
Matthew Schulz (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) (53.86) and sophomore
Sean Finias (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) (54.77), qualified for the PSAC Championships in the event.
Wyant picked up his second win of the night, and the second time he posted the fastest time in the conference this season, when he went 47.20 in the 100-yard freestyle. He out-touched Folz by four-hundredths of a second to claim the win and the best time in the PSAC in the event.
Bloomsburg finished the night with second-place finishes from Grzech in the backstroke (54.42), Boehme in the 500-yard freestyle (4:50.66), and Rocchi in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.69).
The Huskies will return to action next Saturday, November 18, when they head to Dickinson College for a 1:00 p.m. start.
