SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies enter the meet with an 0-2 record on the season. Bloomsburg opened the season on October 20 in West Chester and lost to both the Golden Rams (171-66) and to Division I Lehigh (178-59) in a tri-meet. All told, the Huskies recorded 26 PSAC-qualifying times during the season-opening event.
Redshirt senior
Nikki Young (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton), who missed all of last season due to an injury, made a triumphant return to the pool for the Huskies. She earned Bloomsburg's only victory of the night in the 200-yard breaststroke and posted a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. Young also was part of the Huskies' 400-yard medley relay team that finished in second place on Friday night. Young won the 200-yard breaststroke by nearly four seconds as she touched the wall in 2:24.72. Her second-place time in the 200-yard individual medley was clocked at 2:11.22. The redshirt senior opened the night by joining sophomore
Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley), senior
Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) , and sophomore
Becca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) in posting a time of 3:55.08 in the 400-yard medley relay.
Junior
Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville) also had a strong evening for the Huskies as she finished second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.22. Mercer also finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:13.23. Cubbler picked up where she left off as a freshman a year ago after posting a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.70 and a fourth-place result in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 54.15, to go along with her 400-yard medley relay team placing second in the opening race of the night.
Freshman
Chelsea Ackerson (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) opened her collegiate career in fine fashion after strong swims in a pair of distance events on Friday. Her time in the 50-yard freestyle was tops on the team while her relay team also consisted of sophomore
Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown), senior
Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley), and redshirt junior
Marykate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest).
