WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Bloomsburg University wrestling team dropped its Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) contest to No. 22/17 Lock Haven 37-2 on Saturday night (Dec. 16) at Liberty Arena.

After a major decision at 125 by Lock Haven's Luke Werner, Andy Schutz (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) got the Huskies on the board with a tough 3-1 win by decision over David Fehlman at 133 pounds. The win marked Schutz's fourth win of the year over Fehlman for a perfect 4-0 record. After a scoreless first period, Schutz started the second period on bottom, and scored an escape about midway through the period to take a 1-0 lead. His lead held up until the early third period, when the two men were knotted at 1-all going to the final minute. Schutz secured a takedown in the final minute to score the win and get BU on the board.

No. 22/17 Lock Haven took ahold of the match by winning the remaining eight matches, with five of them being bonus-point victories. The run began with back-to-back technical falls at 141 and 149 to give them a 14-3 edge. Kyle Shoop scored a 16-0 tech fall over Shawn Orem (Pasadena, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) and No. 13 Ronnie Perry defeated Ryan Stocku (Media, Pa./Penncrest) 24-9. John Ross followed it up with a major decision at 157, before No. 8 Chance Marsteller won by technical fall to put Lock Haven up 23-3. Kyle Murphy (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to Jared Seigrist at 174, before Corey Hazel defeated Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) by decision 5-3. During Allard's match, a team point was deducted from Bloomsburg due to misconduct. Logan Womelsdorf (Benton, Pa./Northwest Area) dropped a tough 7-4 decision to Tristan Sponseller at 197 pounds, and No. 13 Thomas Haines defeated Bruce Graeber (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) by technical fall to wrap up the win.

The Huskies fall to 2-3 and 1-1 in the EWL, while the No. 22/17 Bald Eagles improve to 4-0 and 1-0 in EWL competition. The Huskies return home tomorrow (Sunday, Dec. 17) for a non-league match with the Virginia Cavaliers. The action begins at 1:00 p.m.
