Bloomsburg, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University baseball team opens Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play four combined games versus Shippensburg on Friday and Saturday.

The Huskies will be the road team on Friday afternoon, and will act as the home team for Saturdays' doubleheader. Bloomsburg was originally supposed to host the Raiders on Saturday, but due to unplayable field conditions because of recent snowfall, the contests will take place at Shippensburg.

Both days, the first game of the doubleheader will begin at 1:00 p.m.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies enter their first PSAC contest having on three of their last five contests. Bloomsburg took two of three against Brevard College, and split a pair of games versus Lincoln Memorial during their spring break trip last week.

Junior
Tyler Benson (Montville, N.J./Montville Township) leads the team with a .403 batting average, 27 hits and 24 runs scored. Benson has nine hits in his last 20 at-bats (.450) with seven RBI and five runs scored.

Right behind him is redshirt senior
Ryuta Amaike (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), who is batting .400 this season with 26 hits and 17 RBI. Amaike also has an ERA off 2.61 on the mound, with 11 strikeouts in 10.1 innings pitched.

Additionally, redshirt junior
Zach Meyer (Muncy Valley, Pa./Sullivan County) having recorded two wins for the Huskies, having thrown seven innings while allowing no earned runs in a victory over Brevard last week.

SCOUTING SHIPPENSBURG
The Raiders come into the weekend with a 4-9-1 record, and are coming off of a 19-6 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Chestnut Hill on Wednesday. The two teams tied the second contest, 3-3, after the game was called due to darkness.

On the year, Ryan McMillen leads the roster with a .393 batting average, 22 hits and 19 runs scored. Additionally, Drew Bene is hitting .383 with four home runs and 14 RBI.

The Raiders' top slugger is Jake Kennedy, who boasts a .333 batting average with a team-high eight home runs and 24 RBI.

On the mound, Zack Sims is 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 21.1 innings of work. Also, Gabe Mosser is tops on the pitching staff with 24 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched.
