BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's outdoor track and field team will be hosting the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships at Robert B. Redman Stadium beginning on Thursday. The meet will get underway with the start of the decathlon and the running of the 10,000-meters on day one. A full slate of competition will take place on Friday and Saturday.
Ticket prices are set by the PSAC at $10 for adults and $5 for students. All-session passes are $15 and $7 respectively. All students from PSAC institutions are admitted free with valid ID.
On the track, senior
James Wilson (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) and junior
Daniel Neiswender (Lebanon, Pa/Cedar Crest) each qualified for a pair of individual events while seniors
Jake Plachko (St. Clair, Pa./Pottsville Area) and
Danny Dugan (Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey), redshirt junior
Austin Kline (), and junior
Alex Moran (Dublin, Pa./Pennridge) will each compete in one individual event. The Huskies will also have teams competing in each of the relay events - the 4x100, the 4x400, and the 4x800.
Wilson could be in the mix for points in the 800-meter run as he is seeded seventh in the conference in the event. Neiswender, meanwhile, has an opportunity to jump-start the Huskies on Thursday evening where he is seeded fifth in the 10,000-meter run. Plachko is currently sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase while Moran is ninth in the 400-meter hurdles to round out Huskies' qualifiers positioned in the top ten on the track.
In the field events, redshirt sophomore
Arthur Quaye (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) is the defending PSAC outdoor champion in the long jump as is seeded third this season - one one-hundredth of a meter behind Shippensburg's Austin Shupp and West Chester's Justus Norman. Meanwhile, freshman
Matthew Hart (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) is competing in three events over the weekend. He is eighth in the shot put, 12th in the hammer throw, and 20th in the javelin.
Also, keep an eye on freshman
Stephen Laird () who is seeded fourth in the javelin with an NCAA provisional mark of 62.89 meters. He is certainly in the mix for points in the team standings in the event as he is one of only five athletes with a throw of more than 60 meters this season.
