Complete PSAC Release

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - A total of 144 Bloomsburg University student-athletes have been recognized as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athletes for the 2016-17 academic year. The Huskies join a PSAC-record 2,905 student-athletes from the league's 18 institutions being named to the list.

The 2,905 scholar-athlete total marks 41% of the student-athlete population across the entire conference. Both of these numbers broke the previous records of 2,692 scholar-athletes and 40% of the student-athlete population set one year ago. The league has now registered at least a 30% rate for nine straight years.

In order to earn PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or above.

The field hockey and cross country/track and field teams led all of Bloomsburg's women's teams with 19 selections each. Women's soccer had 14 scholar-athletes while women's lacrosse and women's swimming also finished in double figures with 12 and 10 respectively. On the men's side, football led the way with 16 scholar-athletes while baseball and cross country/track and field each had eight scholar-athletes apiece.
