STORYLINE
Bloomsburg, coming off of an impressive four-game split with then-#5 St. Thomas Aquinas last weekend, heads back to the diamond for four games in five days at Wilson, North Carolina. The Huskies will open the stretch against West Virginia State on Saturday, March 10 and then will play California (PA) on Sunday, March 11. Bloomsburg will get its first look at PSAC East rival, Lock Haven, on Tuesday, March 13, before playing the Vulcans of California (PA) again on Wednesday, March 14, to wrap up the trip.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Saturday's matchup against West Virginia State will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the diamond. The Huskies are 1-4 lifetime against California (PA) and 106-71 in the all-time series against Lock Haven. However, Bloomsburg dropped three-out-of-four meetings against the Bald Eagles last season.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg is off to a 5-3 start to the season, including a four-game series split against fifth-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas last weekend. Offensively, the Huskies are batting .281 putting them 11th in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Redshirt senior Austin Edgette (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) is off to a torrid start at the plate as he leads the Huskies with a .536 batting average (15-of-28). He ranks third in the PSAC in hitting - trailing only Kutztown's Nick Lafferty and Seton Hill's Craig Lewis in batting average. Edgette has scored a team-high 12 runs and is also in sole possession of the team lead in hits (15), total bases (22), slugging percentage (.786), on-base percentage (.658), and stolen bases (6). Sophomore Cole Swiger (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) is batting .324 (11-of-36) and is tied with Edgette for the team lead with four doubles. Redshirt junior Shane Woelfel (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) ranks third with a .318 average (7-of-22) and has scored 10 runs while hitting two home runs and driving in seven. Freshman Kyle OFier (Pittston, Pa./Pittston Area) is also above .300 as he comes in with a .310 average (9-of-29). He ranks second on the team in RBI with eight. Junior Ryan Shiffer (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) leads the team with 10 runs batted in while tying Woelfel for the team lead in round trippers with two.

On the mound, the Huskies are fourth in the PSAC with a 3.76 team earned run average (ERA). Junior Ashton Raines (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) leads the starters with a 2-0 record while posting a 2.08 ERA in two starts. He has allowed only six hits in 13 innings (.136 opponent average) while walking one and striking out 11. Sophomore Chad Cooperman (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) leads the team with a 0.93 ERA in two starts despite having an 0-1 record. He has struck out a team-high 12 batters in 9.2 innings. Freshman Nick Stoner (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) has given up only three hits in 10.1 innings (.086 opponent average). He has walked four and struck out 10. Out of the bullpen, sophomore Ed Herbener (Freeland, Pa./MMI Preparatory School) is 1-0 with one save and a 2.45 ERA. He is limiting opponents to an .083 batting average in 3.2 innings. Sophomore JJ Spehrley (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) has won two games out of the pen and sports a 4.91 ERA in three appearances.

SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA STATE
The Yellow Jackets are 4-3 to start the season which includes three wins in four tries against Clarion University. West Virginia State is scheduled to play a pair of games against fourth-ranked Mercyhurst on Friday afternoon before its game with Bloomsburg on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets are batting just .235 as a team - seventh in the Mountain East Conference. However, their pitching staff leads the league with a 3.60 team ERA. Jonathan Cline leads the team with a .294 batting average (5-of-17) while posting a team-high .455 on-base percentage. Brandon Wright comes in with a .280 average (7-of-25) while Trevor Sampson (6-of-22) ranks third at .273. Andrew Stone leads the team in runs (6), runs batted in (6), and slugging percentage (.444). Of his six hits, he has three doubles and a home run.

On the mound, Colby Gainer is 1-0 with a 2.32 ERA in two starts. He has allowed seven hits in 11.2 innings (.179 opponent average). Tyrel Panter is a threat out of the bullpen as he is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three appearances. He has given up only two hits and a walk in five scoreless innings while striking out five.

SCOUTING CALIFORNIA (PA)
The Vulcans have won seven straight games after starting the season with a pair of losses to Ohio Valley. As a team, California (PA) is batting a PSAC-leading .333 and has scored a total of 75 runs through nine games. Eric Fairman leads the team in hitting at .478 (11-of-23). Fairman leads the team in both on-base percentage (.613) and stolen bases (4) while ranking second in runs scored (11) and home runs (2). Chris Wastchak is the team's leading slugger with seven doubles, three home runs, and 15 runs batted in. He leads the team in all three categories while sporting a team-high .892 slugging percentage. He has also scored a team-best 11 runs.

On the mound, California has a 5.01 ERA - ninth in the PSAC. Nick Riggle is 1-0 with a 2.03 ERA in three starts. He has struck out 10 batters in 13.1 innings. Bradyn Kail has one save and a 3.48 ERA in three appearances out of the bullpen. Anthony Winkler is 1-0 in two appearances (one start) and has allowed only three hits in seven scoreless innings.

SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN
The Bald Eagles are sporting a 6-2 record to start the season. The team is currently riding a three game win streak, which snapped a two-game losing skid. As a team, Lock Haven is batting .325 - second in the PSAC - and is averaging 10 runs per game on offense. The team's 80 runs scored is fourth in the PSAC while its 13 home runs ranks second. Keyshawn D'Orso leads the team with a .500 batting average (8-of-16) with nine runs scored, three home runs, and eight runs batted in. Nick Stotler is also having a hot start to the season, as he is batting .379 (11-of-29) with four home runs and 12 runs batted in. His four home runs is tied for second i the league. Justin Sleigh follows with a .357 batting average (10-of-28) and has two doubles, two home runs, and 10 runs batted in. Cayden Stover has scored a team-high 11 runs and sports a .346 batting average (9-of-26).

On the mound, the Bald Eagles have a team earned run average of 7.47 which is 14th in the PSAC. Ross Mintzer owns a 2-0 record through 12 innings with a 2.33 ERA. He also has collected 12 strikeouts. Scott Leitholf has struck out a team-high 14 batters in just 9.2 innings. Breton LaRose has two saves in two scoreless appearances out of the bullpen.

Bloomsburg will travel to California (PA) to battle the Vulcans, again, in a pair of seven-inning games on Tuesday, March 20. First pitch of the twinbill is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
