STORYLINE
Bloomsburg, ranked seventh in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Regional poll, embarks on a four-game series against East Stroudsburg this weekend. After some schedule adjustments, the teams will meet in Bloomsburg on Friday and then will conclude the series on Sunday at East Stroudsburg. This year's Huskies have tied both the 1999 and 2002 squads for the program's best start through 18 games this season. The Huskies have won six of their last seven and eight of their last ten games while the Warriors have won six of their last nine but lost their last two games against West Chester last Saturday.

ALL-TIME SERIES
East Stroudsburg leads the all-time series against Bloomsburg, 103-98-4. Last season, the Warriors won the season series against the Huskies, 2-1-1.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Offensively, the Huskies are tied for fifth in the PSAC in with a .307 team batting average. Cole Swiger (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin), the reigning PSAC East Co-Athlete of the Week, now leads Bloomsburg with a .423 batting average (30-of-71). He also leads the squad in hits (30), doubles (9), total bases (47), and slugging percentage (.523) while tying for first in triples (1) and home runs (2). He ranks second in runs scored (19), on-base percentage (.523), and stolen bases (4). Austin Edgette (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) is second with a .420 average (21-of-50). He leads the Huskies with six stolen bases. Three others - Shane Woelfel (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah), Ben Newbert (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Harriton), and Chad Cooperman (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) - also are above .300 on the season. Woelfel is at .393 with two home runs and 17 runs batted in. He leads with 21 runs scored. Newbert sports a .385 average with 15 RBI in 39 at bats while Cooperman is at .306 with 11 runs driven in. Ryan Shiffer (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) is hitting .299 with a team-high 22 runs batted in.

On the mound, the Huskies are third in the PSAC with a 4.06 team earned run average, trailing only Mercyhurst (2.70) and Seton Hill (3.92). Ashton Raines (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) is the reigning PSAC East and NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week for throwing his first career complete-game shutout last Friday against the Raiders. He is now 5-0 with a 2.25 ERA and has allowed only 20 hits in 32 innings (.175 opponent average) with 25 strikeouts. Nick Stoner (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) is 2-0 with a team-best 1.48 ERA in five appearances (four starts). He has struck out 28 batters in 24.1 innings and has allowed only 12 hits (.140 opponent average). Cooperman is 1-2 with a 1.80 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 20 innings and JJ Spehrley (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) has emerged as the fourth starter as he is 4-0 with a 3.71 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 17 innings. He made his first collegiate start last Saturday. Trey Hinkle (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) leads the Huskies with two saves out of the bullpen.

SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURG
At the plate, the Warriors are third in the PSAC with a .311 batting average while leading the conference with 61 doubles and 23 home runs. Laine Renaud is one of the major offensive threats as he leads the team in batting average (.397), doubles (12), home runs (5), runs batted in (25), and slugging percentage (.744). He ranks in the top five in the PSAC in home runs and RBI and tenth in the league in average. Christian Rishel is batting .360 with a home run and 15 RBI while Steven Zimmerman comes in with a .343 clip, three home runs, and 14 RBI. Zimmerman leads the squad with 22 runs scored. Zarley Cina and Carson Freeman are tied with Renaud in home runs with five.

On the mound, the Warriors are 11th in the conference with a 5.86 team earned run average. Of the starters, Connor Johnson leads the way with a 2-0 record and a 3.93 ERA in seven starts. He has struck out a team-best 37 batters in 34.1 innings. Evan Steele has started four games and is 1-4 with a 5.79 ERA but has struck out 33 batters in only 23.1 innings. The Warriors have used seven different starters this season. Out of the pen, Mike Pepio is 1-2 with a 2.37 ERA in nine appearances. Nick DiEva leads the team with two saves in six appearances.

UP NEXT
Bloomsburg will return to conference action next Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14, as it will battle PSAC East-rival, Mansfield University. The teams will begin the four-game series in Mansfield on Friday before heading to Bloomsburg on Saturday. Both doubleheaders are slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
