THE MATCHUP
• The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team looks to get back in the win column on Wednesday night when it hosts Millersville University at the Nelson Field House. The Huskies are 5-2 at home this season and have not lost to the Marauders in Bloomsburg since 2008. Millersville is coming off of a victory over Mansfield on Saturday afternoon and is currently in fourth place in the PSAC Eastern Division standings.
THE SERIES
• Millersville leads the all-time series against Bloomsburg, 94-92. The Huskies won both meetings between the two schools last season with both being double-digit victories. Bloomsburg, in fact, has won six straight against the Marauders dating back to Millersville's last win over the Huskies - a 73-60 decision - back on February 21, 2015 in Millersville.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• Bloomsburg remained winless away from home this season as the Huskies dropped an 86-63 decision at West Chester on Saturday afternoon.
Ky Mauras (Reading, Pa./Reading) paced the Huskies with 18 points but scored only two of his points in the second half.
Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) finished with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Sam Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) also hit double digits as he finished with 11 points.
Austin Harriott (Philadelphia, Pa./Hun School) posted seven points and grabbed a career-high tying 11 rebounds for the second consecutive game.
• Mauras has been the catalyst of the Bloomsburg offense this season, leading the team in points (18.2), assists (3.8) and steals (2.0) per game. He is also tied for third on the team in rebounds (4.5) per game and is second in three-pointers with 15. Saxton is third on the team in scoring (9.6 ppg) and in assists (2.4 apg) while leading the team with 16 made triples. Harriott averages 8.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while leading the squad with 13 blocked shots. Bloomsburg also features a pair of talented freshmen this season in Elmore and
Sekou Fofana (Upper Darby, Pa./Springfield Commonwealth). Elmore is second on the team in scoring (15.2 ppg) and is 5th in the PSAC in field goal percentage (55.4%). Elmore has reached double figures scoring in all 13 games this season to start his collegiate career and is the reigning PSAC East Freshman of the Week after averaging 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games last week. Fofana, meanwhile, averages only 14 minutes off the bench but scores 7.2 points and grabs 3.9 rebounds per game. He had a streak of four consecutive double-digit scoring efforts snapped at West Chester on Saturday.
• The Huskies are 12th in the PSAC in scoring offense (73.4) but are last in scoring defense (85.8). Shooting and turnovers have been an issue for Bloomsburg this season as it ranks 16th in turnover margin (-3.6), 14th in field goal percentage (42.2%), and last in the PSAC in both three-point percentage (27.9%) and free throw percentage (60.5%).
• The Huskies are a different team at the Nelson Field House than playing away from home this season. Bloomsburg is 5-2 at home, averages 81.7 points per game, and is +3.4 in scoring margin. On the road, the Huskies are 0-6, score just 63.7 points per game, and are -31.0 in scoring margin.
• Bloomsburg has made at least one three-pointer in 221 consecutive games. The last time Bloomsburg did not make a three in a game was on December 4, 2010 in a 54-51 loss at Lock Haven when it went 0-7 from beyond the arc. The Huskies are, however, 14th in the PSAC this season in three-pointers made per game (5.8) and are last in the league in three-point percentage (27.9%).
SCOUTING MILLERSVILLE
• The Marauders come into Wednesday's contest with an 8-7 overall record and a 4-4 mark in the PSAC East, good for fourth place in the division. Millersville snapped a two-game skid on Saturday afternoon with a 90-67 home win over Mansfield. The Marauders had four players in double figures, led by Jaden Faulkner who poured in 23 points. Caden Najdawi posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
• Senior Marcus Adkison leads the Marauders in scoring at 19.3 points per game and has scored at least 12 points in all 15 games this season. He has scored 1,224 career points at Millersville which has him 26th on the school's all-time list. Adkison ranks fifth in the PSAC in scoring and is tops in the conference in triples made per game (3.7). Four others average at least 9.5 points on the season - Najdawi (13.1), Faulkner (12.4), James Sullivan (9.9), and Justin Nwosu (9.
Â
• Millersville is seventh in the PSAC in scoring offense (79.3) and sixth in scoring defense (69.7). Aiding in the Marauders' stingy defense is their turnover margin as they rank third in the conference at +4.93. Millersville forces 18.5 opponent turnovers per game - second-most in the conference.
