THE MATCHUP
• The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team looks to get back on track with a victory against non-conference foe Wilmington (Del.) Wednesday night at the Nelson Field House. The Huskies dropped an 80-69 contest to Kutztown last Saturday, and have lost five of their last six games entering Wednesday's game. Bloomsburg is 6-3 all-time against Wilmington, including an 84-81 victory over the Wildcats in the teams' last meeting on November 26, 2016. The Huskies are 2-1 against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponents this season, with wins over Georgian Court and Felician.
LAST TIME OUT
• Despite three players in double figures, the Huskies were defeated 80-69 by PSAC East foe Kutztown Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Field House. Sekou Fofana (Upper Darby, Pa./Springfield Commonwealth) came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points in just 18 minutes for Bloomsburg, while Ky Mauras (Reading, Pa./Reading) tallied a team-high 19 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Freshman Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) extended his streak of consecutive games in double-figures to start his career to 11 with 11 points in the loss.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• Mauras has been excellent for the Huskies this season, leading the team in points (18.3), assists (3.5) and steals (2.0) per game. Redshirt junior Sam Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) is third on the team in scoring (8.6 ppg) and assists (1.0 apg), while Austin Harriott (Philadelphia, Pa./Hun School) rips down 6.3 boards per game and is tied for the team lead in blocks with 11. Elmore is second on the team in scoring (14.7 ppg), and is second among freshman in the PSAC in rebounding, ripping down 7.5 per game. As a team, Bloomsburg ranks 15th in the PSAC in scoring offense (71.1) and last in the conference in scoring defense (85.7). The Huskies have had their shooting struggles early in the season, and are last in the PSAC in three-point percentage (25.3%), free throw percentage (58.3%), and 16th in overall field goal percentage (40.8%).
SCOUTING WILMINGTON
• Wilmington was defeated 84-79 by Nyack on Saturday, despite 29 points and 10 rebounds from redshirt junior Jermaine Head. He was named CACC Player of the Week Monday after averaging 27 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in two games a week ago. Head leads the conference in scoring (22.0 ppg) this season and is fourth in assists (4.8 apg). Freshman Tyler Norwood averages 17.5 points per game for the Wildcats this season, and leads the team in made three-pointers (29). Thomas Farrior chips in 20. points per game, while sophomore Dawson Grinnage averages 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game this season. As a team, Wilmington ranks 4th in the CACC in scoring offense at 77.1 points per game, and 4th in scoring defense, allowing 81.0 points per contest. The Wildcats shoot 43.8% from the floor as a team, and 36.8% from three-point territory.
