COMPLETE RESULTS
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Freshman
Blake Nesbitt (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth), redshirt junior
Matt Rocchi (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), and junior
Noah Cancro (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) finished 1-2-3 in the 200-yard breaststroke to lift the Bloomsburg University men's swimming team to a hard-fought 116-89 victory over visiting Gannon University at the Nelson Field House Pool. The Huskies picked up their third consecutive victory to improve to 3-2 on the season while the Golden Knights dropped to 2-1 on the year.
Leading by just one point in the team standings heading into the final individual event of the day, Rocchi and Cancro finished first and second, respectively, in the opening heat of the 200-yard breaststroke to extend the lead over the Golden Knights with just the 400-yard freestyle relay remaining. In the second heat, Nesbitt posted the fastest time in the event at 2:15.99 to earn the victory and, essentially, seal the Huskies' third straight win.
Bloomsburg's foursome of redshirt senior
Kyle Dix (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), junior
Collin Hummel (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg), freshman
Luke Emig (Horsham, PA/Hatboro - Horsham), and senior
Jordan Wyant (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) ended up winning the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:08.19) by more than nine seconds over the Huskies' "B" team of sophomore
Pat Agnew (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), sophomore
Jace Fry (Palmyra, Pa./Lower Dauphin), redshirt junior
Tyler Reed (Hereford, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), and freshman
Luke Scoboria (Birdsboro, PA/Exeter) to put even more distance in the final margin of victory.
Other than Nesbitt's victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, the Huskies only had two other swimmers earn individual wins on the day - Dix, and sophomore
Colton Schnars (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte). Dix won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.19 - a season-best and third-fastest time in the conference this season. Schnars earned his win in the 200-yard individual medley by touching the wall in 2:00.54 - also a season-best time. Meanwhile, Nesbitt's time of 2:15.99 was a personal-best and second-fastest mark in the PSAC while Rocchi's time of 2:16.42 was a season-best and third in the PSAC to date.
The Huskies' other win on Saturday came in the meet-opening 400-yard medley relay as Schnars, Dix, Fry, and Emig touched the wall in 3:27.38 - just under four seconds better than Gannon's "A" foursome.
Bloomsburg had 21 different swimmers combine to post 30 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks on Saturday afternoon. Recording two qualifying times were Wyant, Rocchi, Cancro, Schnars, Hummel, Nesbitt, senior
Corey Smith (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), junior
Chris Gleason (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge), and freshman
Ryan Keenan (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley). A dozen Bloomsburg swimmers qualified for the conference meet in one event - Dix, Emig, Agnew, Reed, Fry, senior
Sean Finias (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East), sophomore
Nicholas Madey (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth), sophomore
Carson Hilliard (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford), freshman
Connor Empie (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia), freshman
Colin Shipp (Huntington Valley, PA/Lower Moreland), freshman
