COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. - The Bloomsburg University baseball team split a pair of one-run games against St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday afternoon in the team's final games down south. The Huskies dropped the opener by a 4-3 margin before bouncing back for a 5-4 victory in game two. Bloomsburg moved to 9-3 overall on the season while the Spartans saw their record move to 7-8.
Sophomore
Kyle OFier (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area) and redshirt freshman
Carter Chasanov (Magnolia, Del./Polytech) each hit solo home runs to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead through three innings of game two. The round tripper was the fourth of the season for OFier while Chasanov connected on his first collegiate blast.
St. Thomas Aquinas tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth and then scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-2 advantage. The Huskies, however, came back with three in the bottom of the seventh to earn the 5-4 victory. Bloomsburg's winning run was scored on a walk-off wild pitch.
In the opener, the Huskies had multiple chances to break open the game but left a number of runners on base as the Spartans were able to hold off Bloomsburg to take game one.
