COMPLETE RESULTS
INDIANA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's swimming team had an impressive outing at the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational, Friday and Saturday. The Huskies defeated IUP 200-95 in their final dual meet of the season. Bloomsburg improved to 6-3 on the year and 3-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) duals.
In total, the Huskies posted 41 PSAC qualifying times and 13 total wins, including eight individual wins.
Freshman
Tucker Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) helped the Huskies to four wins, including three relays and the 200-yard backstroke. Ball took second in the 100-yard fly with a personal-best time of 52.46. Ball led off the 400-yard medley with a time of 52.58, a personal-best, and helped the Huskies to a win with a time of 3:36.06. Ball also won the 200-yard backstroke with a personal-best time of 1:56.55.
Ball currently ranks ninth in the 100-back, 14
th in the 200-back, and 22
nd in the 100-fly in the PSAC.
Matt Marvin (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), along with Ball,
Connor Empie (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia), and
Brian Harrell (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) kicked off the meet with an impressive 1:27.74 win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Marvin's 22.34 in the first 50-yard leg was a personal best.
Tyler Reed (Hereford, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) anchored the 200-yard medley relay with Ball, Marvin, and Harrell to a first-place winning time of 1:36.25, seven and a half seconds ahead of the next team. The foursome also won the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:36.06, this time anchored by Harrell.
Marvin, Hummel, and Harrell were joined by Nick Madev in the 400-yard freestyle relay and won by 13 seconds with a time of 3:17.71.
Freshman
Ryan Keenan (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) won the 500-yard freestyle for the first time in his career with a time of 4:58.97 while freshman
Jimmy Greek (Garnet Valley/Garnet Valley) took fifth with a time of 5:03.87. Empie also picked up his first career individual win as he took first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.69, edging out teammate
Chris Gleason (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) by one second.
To go with his four relay wins, Marvin took second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.14. Marvin posted career-bests in time trials of the 50-yard freestyle (22.45) and the 200-yard free (1:49.66).
Senior
Kyle Dix (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) won three individual races, including the 50-yard free (21.56), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.05), and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.92).
The Huskies will honor their seniors next Saturday with their Senior Celebration Day at Nelson Field House while preparing for the PSAC Championships. The championship meet gets under way on February 19 in York, Pa. and will go through Saturday, February 22.
