BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University department of athletics and baseball team has announced that an anonymous donor has made generous contribution to the baseball program for a new scoreboard to be installed at Danny Litwhiler Field. The new scoreboard is scheduled to be installed prior to the 2022 baseball season.

"I am so thankful to the donor for this magnificent gift," remarked head baseball coach Mike Collins. "This is a major upgrade for the program and it will certainly enhance the gameday experience at Litwhiler field. I can't wait to see the offense put some crooked numbers on it!"

The new scoreboard will be manufactured by Daktronics in Brookings, SD and will feature LED scoreboard displays for HUSKIES and GUEST team scores for up to 10 innings, total RUNS and HITS to 99 for each team. It will feature AT BAT to 99, BALL to three, STRIKE to two, OUT to two and H/E (hit or error) with field position number for the error.

"The addition of the new scoreboard is a tremendous benefit for our baseball student-athletes and a boast for the University to remain a leader in the PSAC," Dr. Michael McFarland, Director of Athletics said.  "Partnering with Daktronics and the BU Foundation has made this project a reality that could not have been done without the generous support of our anonymous donor and we cannot thank them enough."

The Bloomsburg baseball team has enjoyed tremendous success over the years, especially as of late. The Huskies won back-to-back Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships in 2019 and 2021 and have made three-straight trips to the NCAA Atlantic Regional, as they earned an at-large bid in 2018. Over the last ten seasons, the Huskies have won 232 games for a .577 winning percentage, including an 83-56 mark at Danny Litwhiler Field. The Huskies have made the postseason five times under Coach Collins, including during the last three full seasons (which excludes 2020 due to the cancellation of the season).
