Men's Swimming are back in action as they host West Chester for first time since Oct. 2018

BLOOMSBURG, PA- The Bloomsburg University men's swim team put up a tough fight against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival West Chester University as they hosted the Rams for the first time since October 2018, Friday evening. The Huskies fell shy of a second BU career victory over the Rams by just 7 points with a final score of 106-99. Junior Andy Thomas (Harleysville, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the meet winning 3 out of 3 individual events in the 200-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Freestyle, and 100-yard Breaststroke. Senior Collin Hummel (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) picked up the only other 1st place victory for the Huskies, out touching the competition in a close 50-yard Freestyle race.
 
The Huskies started the meet off with a splash in the 200-yard Medley Relay consisting of senior Jace Fry (Palmyra, Pa./Lower Dauphin), Junior Blake Nesbitt (Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth), Junior Nick Fiddler (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh), and Hummel as they narrowly outpaced WCU for the win by less than a second.
 
Thomas had a clean sweep across the board as he took first place in all three individual events. Thomas earned his first win of the night in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:41.19, winning by more than 3 seconds over the second-place finish. Thomas followed up with another win in the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 45.54, nearly a whole second over his competition. In the final individual event of the evening, Thomas charged home in 57.87 to win the 100-yard Breaststroke, capping off a perfect three for three wins over WCU.
 
Hummel picked up his first career win of the season in the 50-yard Freestyle narrowly out touching his competition and finishing with a time of 21.36. Hummel snagged a first-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, anchoring for the Huskies with a 50-yard Freestyle split of 20.55, out-splitting his WCU opponent by .56. Hummel closed out the meet by taking third place in his final individual swim of the meet in the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 47.34.
 
Freshman Anthony Goulstone picked up a third and fourth place finish in his collegiate debut as a Bloomsburg Husky. Goulstone placed third in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:58.44 and rounded out his meet with a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time 4:56.25. 
 
Fiddler made his mark as he competed in his first collegiate meet as a Husky after transferring from Villanova University, finishing first in the 200-yard Medley relay with a split of 22.88 in the 50-yard Butterfly. Following up on the relay win, Fiddler took second in the 100-yard Butterfly touching the wall at 51.37 just .04 off first place.
 
Nesbitt started off his season with a third-place finish in the 100-yard Breaststroke and a time of 59.40 as well as a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 52.55. Nesbitt was also a part of the winning 200-yard Medley Relay as he split the 50-yard Breaststroke in 26.27.
 
Senior Daniel Mueser started off his final season as a Husky with a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.87. In the final event of the night, the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, Mueser stepped up to the challenge and brought it home for the Huskies, narrowly out-touching WCU for the win. Senior Pat Agnew (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), Junior Brian Harrell (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), and Senior Logan Baker (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) joined Mueser on the relay.
 
Fry started the meet off with a personal best, coming off an injury, in the 50- yard backstroke split in the winning 200- yard medley relay with a time of 24.14. Fry finished out the meet with a time of 54.08 in the 100-yard back taking third place overall in the event.
 
Junior Luke Scoboria (Birdsboro, Pa./Exeter) had two fifth place finishes in the 200 and 500-yard Freestyle. Scoboria touched the wall at 1:47.47 in the 200-yard Freestyle and 4:56.41 in the 500-yard Freestyle.
 
Senior Logan Baker (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) finished fourth overall with a personal best time in the 100-yard Freestyle of 47.47 and sixth in the 200-yard Freestyle touching the wall at 1:47.70.
 
The Huskies season continues this weekend as they are on the road for their first away dual meet since 2019. The Huskies start their weekend off Friday evening as they travel to Edinboro University to compete in a 5:00 pm meet. BU is back on the road Saturday for a 1:00 pm meet against Division 1 Penn State University at the McCoy Natatorium.
