LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's track and field team wrapped up the 2021 regular season on Saturday as it competed at the Lock Haven Qualifier in the Huskies final tune-up before the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships next week. Bloomsburg posted six victories and recorded six new personal-bests during the meet.
Juniors
Tyler Bailey (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) and
Hank Anderson (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills), as well as freshmen
Robert Wilson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) and
Andrew Basile (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), all had a pair of victories on the track to pace the Huskies in the running events. Bailey posted a personal-best time of 1:53.00 in the 800-meter run to cruise to a victory in the event as he bested senior teammate
Chris McCormick (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill), who finished second, by more than four seconds. Bailey then teamed up with freshman
Andrew Basile (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), freshman
Parker Jarratt (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove), and Wilson for a victory in the 4x400-meter relay as the group teamed up for a time of 3:27.96. Bailey's time in the 800 is now the second-best mark in the league this year.
Wilson and Basile added their second victory of the day in the 4x100-meter relay as they joined Anderson and senior
Jason Jablonowski (Simpson, Pa./Carbondale Area) for a winning time of 45.05. The time is the sixth-best mark in the conference this season. Anderson, meanwhile, added his second victory of the day in the 110-meter hurdles as he crossed the finish line with a winning time of 15.53.
McCormick's time of 1:57.08 in the 800-meter run was a personal-best and moved him into ninth in the conference this season while Jarratt also added a PR in the 800 as he finished third overall with a time of 1:58.93.
Wilson had the other Huskies' personal-best time on the track on Saturday as he ran a 51.45 in the 400-meter dash which moves him into 15th in the PSAC this season.
Jablonowski, along with his win in the 4x100, also was victorious in the long jump as he posted a best mark of 5.88 meters to win the event.
Joining Jablonowski with a big afternoon in the field events was senior
Matt Loeh (Loyalsock Township, Pa./Loyalsock Township), who won the hammer throw and finished second in the discus on Saturday. Loeh recorded a personal-best mark of 51.21 meters in the hammer to claim the title. It was his first-ever throw over 50 meters in his collegiate career and moved him into eighth in the conference this season. His second-place toss in the discus traveled 43.37 meters.
Junior
Anthony Moser (Natalie, Pa./Mt. Carmel) had a season-best mark of 52.03 meters in the javelin to finish second overall. He moved into 12th in the conference this season. Freshman
Michael Makowski (Marion Heights, Pa./Mount Carmel Area) added a personal-best toss of 10.62 meters in the shot put to finish eighth overall on Saturday.
The Huskies will head to Shippensburg for the 2021 PSAC Championships to conclude the 2021 campaign. The three-day meet gets underway on Thursday, May 6, and will conclude on Saturday, May 8.
