WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's swimming team posted several Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times and impressed at a very fast meet with West Chester and Lehigh, Saturday.
The 400-yard medley relay team of
Andy Thomas (Harleysville, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham),
Blake Nesbitt (Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth),
Nick Fiddler (Lafayette Hill, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh), and
Pat Agnew (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) took fourth overall with a time of 3:33.52 while the team of
Tucker Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff),
Nicholas Madey (Pittsburgh, Pa./Northgate),
Dan Mueser (Mount Joy, Pa./Elizabethtown), and
Luke Scoboria (Birdsboro, PA/Exeter) finished seventh with a time of 3:40.64.
In the individual races,
Andrew Holmes (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) opened the day with a PSAC qualifying time in the 200-yard free as he took fourth with a time of 1:44.71. Scoboria posted his fastest time of the seaso in the 200 free as he finished seventh at 1:45.93, also a PSAC mark.
Michael Huegel (Springfield, PA/Spriingfield) came in 10
th with a PSAC mark of 1:49.13.
Tony Goulstone (Hazelton, PA/Hazelton) picked up fifth in the 100-yard back with a PSAC mark of 54.45 while
Luke Willard (Orefield, PA/Parkland) finished seventh at 58.69.
In his first individual race of the day, Nesbitt swam a 1:00.23 100-yard breaststroke to take fifth overall and
Sean Witmer (Millmont, PA/Mifflinburg) finished seventh at 1:02.54.
Nick Zaffiro (Orefield, PA/Parkland) came in eighth overall with a time of 1:02.91.
Fiddler grabbed eighth overall in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:05.70
Thomas won the very competitive 50-yard free with a PSAC mark of 21.15, the fastest time in the event in the PSAC this season. Holmes took seventh overall with a PSAC time of 21.82 and Agnew finished 10
th with a PSAC qualifying mark of 22.58. Mueser finished 11
th with a PSAC time of 22.60.
Thomas followed his 50-free performance with an equally impressive 46.48 in the 100-free to take second overall. Holmes captured eighth with a PSAC time of 47.97.
Josh Mansfield (Southampton, PA/William Tennet) finished 11
th with a PSAC qualifying time of 49.70.
Goulstone grabbed another PSAC time as he took sixth overall in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.57 while
Jimmy Greek (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) touched the wall at 2:02.75 to finish seventh. Ball finished eighth overall with a time of 2:04.25.
Constantin Buga (Philadlephia, PA/Northeast) finished third overall in the 200-yard breast with a PSAC time of 2:18.45 and Witmer finished fifth with another PSAC time of 2:19.19.
Dennis Dukinas (Dallas, PA/Dallas) (2:21.15) and Agnew (2:24.58) went sixth and seventh for the Huskies.
Scoboria finished fourth overall with a PSAC time of 4:49.05 in the 500-yard free while Huegel was fifth with a PSAC mark of 4:54.53.
Nesbitt and Mueser tied in the 100-yard fly as they each touched the wall at 53.69 to take seventh with their PSAC qualifying marks.
Zaffiro came in fifth in the 400-yard IM with a PSAC time of 4:19.09 while Goulstone hit his PSAC time of 4:23.84 to take eighth. Willard (4:26.66 • 9
th) and Greek (4:29.41 • 10
th) each hit a PSAC mark as well.
Thomas, Agnew, Mueser, and Holmes capped the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.96 while Huegel, Scoboria, Mansfield, and Nesbitt finished seventh at 1:28.87. Dukinas, Buga,
Connor Empie (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), and Witmer finished eighth with a time of 1:32.22.
After two weeks off, the Huskies will get back in the pool on Friday. November 4 when they host Millersville and Edinboro for a PSAC tri-meet at the Nelson Field House Pool beginning at 5:00 p.m.
