CARLISLE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's swim team won all 13 events during a dual meet against Dickinson College Saturday at the Clarke Aquatic Center in Carlisle, Pa.
The 13 victories were accompanied by multiple events that saw the Huskies post all top three finishers, which helped Bloomsburg run away with a dominant 190-50 victory.
Andy Thomas (Harleysville, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and
Sean Witmer (Millmont, PA/Mifflinburg) all led the way by winning multiple events. Bloomsburg's relay teams also dominated as they won both competitions.
In the first event of the day for the men, the team's 200-yard medley relay team consisting of
Tucker Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), Drew Holmes,
Dan Mueser (Mount Joy, Pa./Elizabethtown) and Patrick Agnew placed first with a time of 1:37.79. The Huskies also posted teams in second and third place. Bloomsburg's second place team of Thomas,
Tanner Glatfelter (Dover, PA/Dover),
Nick Zaffiro (Orefield, PA/Parkland) and
Blake Nesbitt (Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth) posted a time of 1:40.86, and the third place team of
Tony Goulstone (Hazelton, PA/Hazelton),
Sean Witmer (Millmont, PA/Mifflinburg), John Mansfield and
Brian Harrell (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) had a mark of 1:41.23.
Nick Fiddler (Lafayette Hill, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) kept things rolling in the second event of the day, winning the 200-yard freestyle with a mark of 1:49.76. In the same event,
Luke Willard (Orefield, PA/Parkland) placed third (1:50.07) and
Constantin Buga (Philadlephia, PA/Northeast) placed fourth (1:53.82).
The Huskies posted all top three finishers in the 50-yard backstroke as Goulstone won the event (25.42),
Brian Harrell (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) placed second (26.19) and Drew Holmes finished third (26.72).
Witmer won his first event of the day by posting a time of 28.39 in the 50-yard breaststroke, then the freshman won the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:02.17.
In a tight 100-yard butterfly, Huegel won with a mark of 56.08. Not far behind was teammate
Josh Mansfield (Southampton, PA/William Tennet), who placed second with a time of 56.45, which was just .03 seconds faster than Dickinson's Nolan Chenot (56.49).
Thomas led a trio of Husky swimmers that placed in the top three during the 50-yard freestyle competition. Thomas won the event with a time of 22.08 and placing second was Meuser, who finished with a mark of 22.27. Agnew rounded out the three Husky swimmers with a time of 22.44.
Brian Harrell (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) grabbed a tight win in the 100-yard freestyle, winning the event with a time of 50.33. Harrell's time edged Dickinson's Ried Schattgen, who was second with a time of 50.88.
Connor Empie (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) placed third (51.22) and Mansfield was fourth (52.40).
Ball led another trio of Bloomsburg swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke. Ball placed first with a mark of 55.28 while Nesbitt placed second (56.75) and Fiddler finished third (57.07).
Meuser won the 50-yard butterfly (23.89) and Fiddler was second in the event (24.36). Thomas won the 100-yard IM with a time of 53.33 and Goulstone was second in the event with a mark of 56.19.
The team's 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Agnew, Zaffiro, Holmes and Thomas won the competition with a time of 1:29.64.
Bloomsburg closed out the competition by sweeping the 400-yard IM with
Luke Scoboria (Birdsboro, PA/Exeter) winning the event with a time of 4:18.56.
The Huskies will be back in action with the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational next weekend at the Keystone Aquatic Center in Carlisle, Pa.
