CARLISLE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's swim team defeated Dickinson College 160-82 in a dual meet Saturday.
The Huskies dominated the meet by winning nine of the possible 13 competitions to run away with the lopsided victory.
Madison Osanitsch (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) won multiple events, placing first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.60) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.12).
Anna Sugra (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) won the 50-yard breaststroke (32.87) and posted two other top three finishes, placing third in the 50-yard freestyle (26.50) and the 100-yard freestyle (56.93).
Sugra was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that placed first with a time of 1:53.75 along with
Grace Beierschmitt (Dover, Pa./Dover),
Rylee Wenzel (West Lawn, PA/Wilson High School) and
Sydney Lloyd (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick). The Huskies also had a team consisting of
Katie Eisenhofer (Reading, PA/Schuylkill Valley),
Taleah Ruben (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville), and
Julia Riegel (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) that placed second in the event with a time of 1:56.11.
Bloomsburg's relay teams swept the relay competitions with the Huskies winning the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.07).
Maggie Shaffer (East Petersburg, PA/Hempfield) edged Dickinson's Sydney Farling in a tight race during the 100-yard breaststroke, winning the event by .26 seconds. Shaffer posted a time of 1:15.45 while Farling finished second with a mark of 1:15.71. In the same event, Lloyd posted a time of 1:16.09 to finish third and just ahead of Dickinson's Bella Gerkin, who had a time of 1:16.18.
The Huskies gained a big advantage in the team standings by posting all top three finishers in the 50-yard backstroke.
Justine Drake (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) won the event with a time of 29.95, and she was followed closely by two teammates in Ruben and
Jada Stambaugh (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson). Ruben had a time of 30.00 while Stambaugh placed third with a mark of 30.22.
Bloomsburg also posted all top three finishers in the 50-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke. Sugra won the 50 with Riegel and Kupsky placing second and third. In the 100-yard backstroke, Osanitsch won the event while Beierschmitt and Ali Lehman rounded out the top three.
The Huskies will be back in action with the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational next weekend at the Keystone Aquatic Center in Carlisle, Pa.
