BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg wrestling team had a pair of wins but fell to visiting Lock Haven, 35-9, in Mid-American Conference action, Sunday afternoon. The Huskies dropped to 4-9 on the year and 0-3 in MAC action.
Graduate student
Bronson Garber (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) got the Huskies off to a thrilling start at 125 pounds against Logan Sallot. After a first-period take down to give Sallot a 3-0 lead, Garber got his escape to get on the board, 3-1. Garber chose bottom to start the and got a two-point reversal to tie the bout at 3-3 but Sallot took a 4-3 lead shortly after with an escape near the end of the second period. Sallot chose bottom to start the third and Garber took advantage of his positon to get Sallot on his back with 1:22 to go in the match for the come-from-behind win and pin at 5:38.
The Bald Eagles had three-straight bonus point wins before Connor Eck gave Lock Haven a 19-6 win after the 157-pound match.
Freshman
Caden Dobbins (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) halted the Lock Haven run with a hard-fought 3-0 decision over Eric Alderfer at 165-pounds. After a scoreless first period, Dobbins chose bottom to start the second. He got on the board with an escape and kept Alderfer from gaining an advantage. Alderfer chose bottom to start the third. Dobbins was awarded a penalty point thanks to a pair of stall warnings on Alderfer. The freshman kept the advantage for the period and earned the riding time point to win 3-0.
Garber and Dobbins are now tied for the team-lead with 13 wins each while Dobbins has a team-best nine dual match victories this season.
