BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's swimming team swept a pair of meets Friday evening, defeating PSAC-rival Clarion, 118-86 and Lycoming 171-15 with 29 PSAC-qualifying times.
How It Happened:
The Huskies got things started with a pair of season-best times in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Brayden Kemezis (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) took the win in an event with a PSAC-quality time of 10:10.93 for a three-second improvement.
Michael Huegel (Springfield, Pa./Spriingfield) finished third in the race in 10:20.07, good for a 10-second jump and a PSAC-qualifying time.
In the 200-yard freestyle,
Ethan Coffman (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) and Batthew Boehme continued the trend with season-best marks. Coffman saw a .24 improvement in his time at 1:45.20 while Boehme's .14 cut saw the sophomore touch the wall in 1:46.69. Bloomsburg posted four additional season-best marks in the 50-yard freestyle.
Jack Drake (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg Area) took home the race win in 21.08 to cut his PSAC-qualifying time by over half a second.
Ian Hamilton (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) and
Adler Zawodny (Hellertown, Pa./CCA) finished back-to-back in third and fourth with improved PSAC times of 21.47 and 21.80. Racing in exhibition,
Tyler Tinsley (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) touched the wall in 22.39 for a season-best time.
In his second race of the day, Boehme led a group of three Huskies to PSAC-qualifying times in the 200 IM. Boehme set a personal-best of 1:56.28 in the race.
Nick Zaffiro (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) and
Tanner Glatfelter (Dover, Pa./Dover) finished in 1:56.32 and 1:58.68, respectively, with both swimmers improving their times this season by over a second. Drake won his second race of the day in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 50.56 to improve his PSAC-qualifying time by 1.25 seconds.
Connor McClurkin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and Peter Agnotti additionally set conference-standard marks, with McClurkin shaving 1.84 seconds for a finish of 52.92 and Agnotti improving at 53.82.
Andrew Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) took home the fourth victory of the meet for Bloomsburg, improving his 100-yard freestyle time by .59 to finish in 46.96. Zawodny and Tinsley improved their PSAC-standard times for the second time in the meet, with Zawodny touching at 48.07 and Tinsley finishing in 49.09. Hamilton won his second race of the day, taking the 100-yard backstroke in 53.48. Agnotti finished in second with a conference-standard mark of 54.40 for a season-best.
Cole Verga (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) and
Chad Jones (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) also had conference-qualifying marks, with Verga at 52.12 and Jones posting a season-best time of 55.16.
Coffman, Kemezis and Huegel returned to the pool for the 500-yard freestyle. Coffman was the first to finish, touching for a PSAC-cut time of 4:55.27 for an over-two-second improvement on the season. Kemezis set his season time at 4:57.63 for a conference-standard time while Huegel posted a five-second season-best at 4:59.44 to hit the PSAC-qualifying mark.
The Huskies had five PSAC-cut times at the end of the 100-yard breaststroke. Holmes led Bloomsburg's efforts with a season-best 57.81.
Sean Witmer (Millmont, Pa./Mifflinburg) finished behind Holmes with a .76-improvement on the year for a time of 58.23. McClurkin saw a similar improvement on the season for the Huskies at 58.69. Glatfelter finished in 1:00.07 while
Constantin Buga (Philadlephia, Pa./Northeast) touched at 1:00.93 for a two-second improvement in the event.
Drake and Holmes returned to the pool one final time on the day with Sidney Beers and Morgan Holmes to win the Mixed 400 freestyle relay in 3:23.39.

The Huskies are back in the pool from Friday, November 22, to Sunday, November 24, for the F&M Invite.
