LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Bloomsburg's Rachel Cunningham (Hanover, Pa./South Western) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women's Swimmer of the Week after a commanding performance in the Huskies' tri-meet victory over Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg on October 4.
Cunningham led the way for Bloomsburg with a pair of individual victories and an impressive relay performance. The senior sprint specialist captured the 50-yard freestyle title with a PSAC-qualifying time of 23.69 seconds, the fastest mark in the conference so far this season. She followed that up with another dominant swim in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 52.99 seconds for her second PSAC mark of the day, another top-time in the conference this season.
Cunningham also anchored Bloomsburg's winning 200-yard freestyle relay, helping the Huskies to a first-place finish in 1:38.14 alongside teammates Samantha Linsey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff), Morgan Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), and Olivia Igou (Flourtown, Pa./Springfield Township).
Her efforts paced a Bloomsburg women's team that swept both Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg while posting multiple PSAC qualifying standards throughout the meet.
