Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team led wire-to-wire to pick up its first win of the season, 86-45, over Penn State-Scranton on in a non-conference bout inside the Nelson Field House on Tuesday night.

Bloomsburg (1-3) shot 40.3 percent (31-for-77) from the field while holding Penn State-Scranton (4-4) to just 25.4 percent (18-for-71) shooting. The Huskies also hauled in 61 rebounds during the contest. It is the most rebounds in a game for the maroon and gold since recording 66 against Cheyney on December 2, 2019.

George Sabatini (Mountain Top, Pa./Holy Redeemer) notched a career-best performance in the home victory, registering his first career double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The sophomore went 6-for 12 from the floor and posted an assist and a block in 23 minutes of action.
Ries Naugle (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) tallied 13 points as well, going 6-for 10 on the night with a three-pointer, a block and a steal.
Courtney Davis II (Gainesville, Va./Patriot) finished with double-digit points, scoring six of his 11 points from the free throw line. The redshirt-junior also posted a career-high six assists.

Gabe Springer (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wallenpaupack) made his presence known on both sides of the ball as he went 4-for-5 and ended the game with nine points, Defensively, Springer posted three blocks and seven rebounds.
Chase Smucker (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) hit a trio of threes in the contest while
Thaddeus Lee (Lancaster, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) notched seven rounds in just nine minutes.

The Huskies found the momentum early in the contest as it took 17 seconds for Davis to find Smucker for a three-pointer to open the game. After a made free throw got the Lions on the board, Bloomsburg jumped right back on the attack. Naugle sunk a three before picking off a pass and putting the maroon and gold ahead 8-1 with a two-handed slam.

After the slow start, Penn State-Scranton found its footing, keeping the Huskies within an 11-point range but could not close the gap. Smucker sank his second three of the night halfway through the frame to put Bloomsburg ahead 26-9, and the Huskies continued to pull away. A last-second tip-in layup from Naugle sent the home team into the locker room with a 45-24 lead.

Sabatini got the Huskies started in the second half, putting back a layup from Naugle. The layup kickstarted a 21-5 run for Bloomsburg that saw six different Huskies find the basket. The maroon and gold saw plenty of success from its bench late in the contest as they helped close out the game, 86-45, for the first win of the season.

The Huskies' bench counted for 31 of the team's points while 12 different players scored in the contest.

Bloomsburg is back at home on Sunday, November 30 as it hosts Penn State Hazleton at 3 p.m.
