BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's tennis team opened the 2025-26 season at home in the Husky Invitational.
The Huskies had a great showing in doubles as
Iu Casamitjana (Igualada, Spain/Escola Pia Igualada) and
Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/) won 6-3 in the opening round in the Maroon Doubles Flight to move to the winner's side of the bracket. The two would make it to the bracket finals and take second.
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) and Jack Seaborn would then win in the consolation bracket 6-4. The two would take sixth place.
In the Gold Doubles flight, Alex Higurea and
Jaime Soria (Pamplona, Spain/Liceo Monjardin) would take third place winning 6-2 while
Landon Wall (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca High School) and Nicolas Mustea would take fifth with a 6-4.
Dementev would continue his success by winning the first round in a close bout in the Maroon Singles 6-2, 6-7,13-11, 10-8. He dominated the second round in a 6-1, 6-1 win. He would place second in the flight.
The Green Singles would see Fiete Moennig win the first round in a 6-1,6-3 bout moving to the finals. He took second place.
The Huskies will host the Dynamic Duo Tournament on September 12 and 13.
