INDIANA, Pa. - The men's swimming team placed first out of four teams in the IUP Last Chance Meet with 408 points. They placed second out of five teams in the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational with 321 points.
IUP Last Chance Meet:Â
The Huskies started out well after taking second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Tommy Houck,
Colin Nash (Abington, Pa/Abington),
Tyler Tinsley (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) and
Sean Witmer (Millmont, Pa./Mifflinburg) finished with a time of 1:30.59.
Chad Jones (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) took the gold in the 400-yard individual medley with a 4:17.08 final.Â
In the 100-yard butterfly, 13 Huskies received points.
Jack Drake (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg Area) took first place with a time of 49.50.
Daryn Ginter (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area) and
Nick Lennon (Wilmington, Del./Saint Marks) followed behind, taking third and fourth respectively.
Ian Hamilton (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) continued Bloomsburg's success by taking first in the 200-yard backstroke. Jones and
Ethan Coffman (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) also finished with points on the board. The 200-breaststroke featured
Andrew Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) and
Brayden Kemezis (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), taking second and third respectively. The Huskies finished the day with
Matt Boehme (Blue Bell, Pa./Universal School) taking fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.
John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invite:
In this invite, the Huskies started out with a first-place showing from Kemezis with a final of 1:56.21 in the 200-yard individual medley. Coffman followed soon after, taking second place at 1:56.35.
Andrew Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) had the fastest time for the Huskies in the 100-yard backstroke, taking second. Drake and Jones were also featured in the race. Witmer impressed in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking second place. Ginter and
Constantin Buga (Philadlephia, Pa./Northeast) also swam in the race.
The invite ended with a dominant performance from Drake in the 50-yard freestyle. He took first with a final of 20.48.
On the Horizon:
The Huskies will travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. to face Susquehanna University on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
