YORK, Pa. — The Bloomsburg men's swimming team advanced a strong group into Saturday night's finals during the fourth day of preliminaries at the 2026 PSAC Championships, placing four swimmers into the championship heat of the 100 freestyle and earning multiple second swims in backstroke and breaststroke events.
Junior
Jack Drake (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg Area) led the Huskies in the 100 freestyle, winning prelims in 44.67. Junior
Ian Hamilton (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) followed in 45.22, while senior
Andrew Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) posted a 45.77 to secure a championship final berth. Freshman Tommy Houck qualified for the consolation final in 46.55, and Matthew Boehme (46.72) and
Daryn Ginter (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area) (46.79) also earned second swims.
In the 200 backstroke, junior
Chad Jones (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) advanced to the championship final with a 1:56.83.
In the 200 breaststroke, senior
Nick Zaffiro (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) secured a championship final lane in 2:04.42. Junior
Connor McClurkin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) advanced in 2:07.25, while senior
Constantin Buga (Philadlephia, Pa./Northeast) qualified in 2:08.35.
In the timed final 1650 freestyle, senior
Michael Huegel (Springfield, Pa./Spriingfield) finished fifth in 16:41.75, and freshman
Max McCloskey (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) placed eighth in 16:52.34.
Bloomsburg will return to the pool Saturday evening with multiple championship and consolation final appearances to close out the championships. Races get underway at 5:00 p.m.
