BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - In the final rankings before the 2026 NCAA DI Wrestling Championships,
Jace Schafer (Fairport, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) and
Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) moved into the rankings by InterMat, released on March 9.
Schafer is 32nd after finishing third at the MAC Championships and winning the true second match to earn one of two automatic qualifier spots for the MAC at 125 pounds. Schafer compiled a 23-8 record at Bloomsburg after transferring to the Huskies after four years at West Virginia University. The graduate student leads the Huskies with 15 bonus point wins, including six tech falls, five falls, and four major decisions. Schafer used a pair of pins to go 5-1 at the MAC Championships and qualify for the national championships.
Rebuck is 23-8 this season and ranked 32nd in the rankings after also taking third at the MAC Championships and winning the true second match at 285 pounds to earn an automatic spot in the national championships. Rebuck went 4-1 at the MAC Championships after entering the tournament as the No. 5 seed at 285 pounds. He currently has 11 bonus point wins, including a team-leading six pins to go with three tech falls and two major decisions. Rebuck has put together his best season in the maroon and gold this year after posting eight wins in 2024-25 and three during his redshirt season in 2023-24.
The pair has led the Huskies to one of their best seasons in the last 14 seasons with 10 dual wins, the most since the 2012-13 season (17-3 under
John Stutzman), and their highest finish at the MAC Championships (10th) with 39.5 points.
Rebuck and Schafer are the first pair of Huskies to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Alex Carida and Trevor Allard did during the 2019-20 season. The NCAA Championships begin Thursday, March 19 at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
