Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's tennis team put together a complete performance on its home courts, sweeping doubles play and winning five of six singles matches to secure a decisive victory on Monday afternoon.
The Huskies established control early by claiming the doubles point with a clean 3-0 sweep. At No. 3 doubles, the tandem of
Landon Wall (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca High School) and
Luca Argenio () set the tone with a quick 6-1 win.
Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/Russian Gymnasium at the State Russian Museum) and
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) followed with a strong 6-3 victory at No. 1, while
Nicolas Mustea (Bonn, Germany/Friedrich-Ebert Gymnasium Bonn) and
Fiete Moennig (Minden, Germany/Ratsgymnasium Minden) matched that score with a 6-3 win at No. 2 to give Bloomsburg the early advantage.
Bloomsburg carried that momentum into singles play, where depth across the lineup proved to be the difference.
At No. 2 singles,
Jack Seaborn (Cambridge, England/The Leys School) delivered a composed performance in a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Dilan continued his strong day with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3, controlling the match from the baseline throughout.
The Huskies took command of the middle of the lineup as Wall earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4, and Mustea followed with a steady 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 5 to push Bloomsburg closer to clinching.
Moennig sealed the team result at No. 6 singles, battling through a three-set match for a 6-4, 2-6, super tiebreak win to secure the fifth point for the Huskies.
At the top spot, Dementev fought through a tightly contested match at No. 1 singles, rallying after dropping the first set before falling in a third-set tiebreak in the lone setback of the afternoon.
With the doubles sweep and five singles victories, Bloomsburg showcased balance and consistency across the lineup in one of its most complete efforts of the season.
Bloomsburg returns to action at home on Saturday, hosting West Virginia State University at 12:00 p.m. at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
