BLOOMSBURG--With just one loss on the season the Bloomsburg University men's swim team is looking to finish on a high note as it faces IUP and Gannon this weekend at the IUP Dual Challenge. Action will get underway at 5 p.m. on Friday and resume Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
The Huskies are aiming to set a new mark for the best record in school history. A pair of wins this weekend would give the Huskies a record of 7-1 beating the 9-2 mark of 1967-68 squad.
'The BU/IUP men's match up will be a preview of the PSAC race for the runner-up spot," said Huskies head coach
Stu Marvin. "West Chester is clearly the favorite, but IUP stands in the way of us (Bloomsburg) seeking a third straight runner-up trophy. The action going to be very tense over the two days!!"
The Huskies bested the Golden Knights earlier this season and outscored IUP at the Zippy Invitational at Akron in December.
Individually the Huskies have several swimmers with NCAA "B" cut times this season. In the 50-free its
Eric Usbeck (Lake Ariel/Wallenpaupack Area) and
Sam Feiser (Pottstown/OJ Roberts), while in the 100-free its
Josh Grzech (Mountain Top/Crestwood) and in the 1650-free
Brandon Sherbo (Etters/Red Land) has a "B" cut time.
Following the meet this weekend the Huskies will continue its preparation for the PSAC Championships to be held Feb. 19-22.
