KUTZTOWN—The Bloomsburg University women's cross country team took home top honors on Saturday at the D-II/III Challenge Meet hosted by Kutztown University. The Huskies finished with 69 points compared to 73 for runner-up Shippensburg.

The Huskies, ranked second in the Atlantic Region by the USTFCCCA (United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association), were able to beat the top-ranked Raiders who were also ranked No. 20 in Division II.

"It was an exciting day!," said Huskies head coach
Bernie Empie. "It comes as no surprise that our women looked as strong as they did. I felt we were close to Shippensburg, and that it would probably depend on who was a little sharper. That was us today."

Bloomsburg, which placed five runners inside of the top 25, was paced by junior
Hannah Boudreau (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) who finished seventh in 23:02 on the 6K course. Senior
Keelan McDonald (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) took 10
th overall in 23:16, while
Teresa Ortiz (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) was 13
th in 23:20. Â Taking fourth for the Huskies and 16
th overall was
Jessica Quesenberry (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) in a time of 23:32 with
Marina Eberhart (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington) 23
rd in 23:53 giving the Huskies a 51 second spacing between its number one and number five runners.

Rounding out the scoring positions was
Treicy Cedeno (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) in 39
th in 24:20 and
Alana Jacaruso (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) in 76
th in 25:28 with
Amber Csrenko (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) finishing in 25:27 for 104
th in the field of 244.
