MANSFIELD, Pa. – Thanks to three top five finishers, the Bloomsburg University women's cross country team won the Ed Winrow Memorial Cross Country Invitational at Mansfield Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies finished in first place out of nine teams with a team score of 38, which was enough to edge out Shippensburg (39 points) for the top spot in the team standings. Mansfield placed third and was the next closest team in the standings with 90 points.
Bloomsburg was paced by
Kelley Selheimer (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), who finished third overall and was the top runner for the Huskies with her time of 23:14.8.
Nicole Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) was right behind Selheimer with her fourth-place finish, which came after running a time of 23:15.0.
Amanda Kelly (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) rounded out the top five finishers for the Huskies as she was fifth with almost an equivalent time of Keeley's as she finished with a mark of 23:15.5.
Alyssa Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) had a solid performance, finishing 10
th overall with a time of 23:56.6. Three more Huskies placed in the top 20 as
Jaime Diedel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn),
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) and
Emma Fortune (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./James M. Coughlin) placed 16
th, 18
th and 19
th overall in the race.
The women's team will have off until October 22, which is when they travel to Detroit, MI for the Warrior Challenge.
