MANSFIELD, Pa. –
Kelley Selheimer (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) picked up All-Atlantic Region honors as she helped the Bloomsburg University women's cross country team finish 9
th overall at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships Saturday afternoon at Lamb's Creek Cross Country Course in Mansfield.
Selheimer finished 22
nd overall with a time of 22:55.0 and was the top performer for the Huskies, who finished the day with 245 points.
Nicole Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) had a solid performance at the regional championship and finished 29
th overall with a time of 23:16.2. Keeley's placement was just outside of the Top 25, which would've earned her an All-Region honor, but the Top 30 placement caps off a season that saw the senior runner earn an All-Conference accolade at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships two weeks ago.
Alyssa Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) finished 51
st overall in her first appearance at the NCAA Atlantic Regional, and her time of 23:52.9 set a new career mark. The freshman runner's new career best is nearly two seconds off of her previous, which was set earlier this season at the LHU Invitational.
Sarah Sweet (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prepatory),
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) and
Jaime Diedel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) all posted solid times and finished within four spots of one another. Sweet was the first of the three runners to cross the finish line and capped off her freshman season by placing 78
th overall with a time of 24:35.0. Dumond was next and placed 80
th overall (24:38.8), and Diedel was right behind finishing 81
st with a time of 24:40.9.
Amanda Kelly (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) upped her time from the PSAC Championships by 11.3 seconds and finished 92
nd overall with a time of 24:58.2.
The University of Charleston (W.V.) won the event with 52 points and had two runners finish in the Top 7 while also placing five runners within the Top 18. Charleston also won the men's competition Saturday.
Edinboro had a pair of runners finish 1
st and 2
nd overall, which sparked them to a second-place finish with 84 total points.
Lock Haven rounded out the Top 3 teams and finished third with 136 points.
