GREENSBORO, NC- The Bloomsburg men's swim team rounded out their 2021-2022 season as the NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships comes to a close. The Huskies competed from March 9th through March 12th at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
In spite of complications with Covid-19 and missing critical training time, Andy Thomas (Harleysville, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was still able to enter Nationals off four individual wins at his second PSAC Championships with the Huskies. During the previous season, 2020-2021, Thomas swam a perfect PSAC Championships and went 7 for 7 gold medals. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, the NCAA Championships was cut short for safety and health precautions.Â
Â
In the final two days of competition, Thomas was eligible to swim his 'B' cut standard events; the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle. He entered the meet 28th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 54.94 from PSAC Championships and touched the wall at 56.08 to finish out day three of competition for the Huskies.Â
Â
The men's swim team finished their 2021-2022 season Saturday morning as Thomas swam his final individual event, the 100-yard freestyle. He entered the 100 freestyle 23rd overall with a seed time of 44.04 and got his hand on the wall for 24th place with a time of 44.24, just off of his entry time.
Â
The Junior from Harleysville, Pennsylvania looks to have a great senior season with the Huskies as he continues to make his mark on BU Swimming history!
