Thomas Wins Third Individual Title; Men's Swimming Holds at Fourth at PSAC Championships

YORK, Pa. – Senior Andy Thomas (Harleysville, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) won his third-straight individual championship as the Bloomsburg men's swimming team holds steady in fourth at the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. The Huskies have 366 team points through three full days of competition.
 
After finishing first in the prelims, the 100-breaststroke was his to win during the finals. Thomas won his third-straight title, marking his third title of the meet, with a. 55.43 in the A Finals. He finished 0.58 ahead of the next closest swimmer. Senior Blake Nesbitt (Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth) picked up 14 team points for the Huskies after finishing fifth in the A Final with a time of 56.89. Freshman Drew Holmes continued his outstanding first championship meet with a win in the B Finals at 57.04. Tanner Glatfelter (Dover, PA/Dover) finished fourth in the B Final and 12th overall at 57.94 and Sean Witmer (Millmont, PA/Mifflinburg) took fifth in the heat and 13th overall at 58.11.
 
The Huskies quartet of Tucker Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), Nesbitt, Dan Mueser (Mount Joy, Pa./Elizabethtown), and Brian Harrell (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) finished fifth in the 200-yard medley relay to open the finals on Day Three with a time of 1:32.20.
 
Senior Luke Scoboria (Birdsboro, PA/Exeter) took fifth overall in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:36.81, taking over a second off his prelim time.
 
Tony Goulstone (Hazelton, PA/Hazelton) and Tucker Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) battled it out in a very tough 100-yard backstroke A Final as Goulstone took sixth overall at 51.21 and Ball finished seventh with a time of 51.33.
 
Nick Zaffiro (Orefield, PA/Parkland) and Nick Fiddler (Lafayette Hill, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) closed out the day in the 200-yard butterfly B Finals for the Huskies. Zaffiro took first in the consolation finals with a time of 1:53.07, which would have tied for seventh in the A Finals. Fiddler finished fifth in his heat and 13th overall with a time of 1:54.77.
 
The Huskies get back in the pool Saturday morning for the final day of the 2023 PSAC Championships. Prelims are set to start at 10:00 am while the finals are set for 5:00 pm at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa.
