Selected a captain by his teammates for 2010, Varanavage is an exceptional athlete with the knack to make big plays. He has played since his freshman year at both the “Buck” and “Will” linebacker spots and is a vocal leader who plays with emotion. Along with Thomas McFarland, Varanavage should be one of the best pair of linebackers in the region.
2010: Nominated as a team captain and started in 12 games for the Huskies...Recorded 10 tackles with one tackle resulting in a loss of three yards against Ashland (6/4)...Recorded 12 tackles and one fumble recovery against Clarion (9/11)... Named the PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week...Recorded 11 tackles and intercepted one pass which was ran back 60 yards for a touchdown in the win against IUP (9/18)...Named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for the second straight week...Recorded one interception and added three tackles in win over Millersville (9/25)...Recorded four tackles and two quarterback hurries in the win over East Stroudsburg (10/02)...Made 8 tackles and had a sack for a loss of 8 yards to help defeat Shippensburg (10/16)...Recorded 10 tackles with two resulting in a loss of yards against West Chester (10/23)...Logged 11 tackles, had a fumble recovery, and had a sack for a loss of 10 yards in the 36-16 win over C.W.
