Amber (Hackenberg) Brosius was a standout cross country and track & field athlete at Bloomsburg for four years. Hackenberg joined the Huskies in the fall of 2004. She was the first women's cross country All-American and earned several Academic All-America, All-Region, and All-PSAC honors during her career.

Hackenberg earned All-American status on the cross country course during the 2007 season after finishing fifth overall and first for BU at the PSAC championship meet and sixth overall and was the first Husky finisher at the NCAA Regional. She finished 34th overall with a time of 21:45.0 to earn All-American status. Hackenberg earned All-Region honors during the 2004, 2005, and 2006 seasons with invites to the NCAA Championship in 2005 and 2007. She was All-PSAC all four seasons as a Husky.

During her track career, Hackenberg was a four-time All-PSAC performer between the indoor and outdoor seasons and qualified for the NCAA Championships three times during the 2005, 2007, and 2008 outdoor seasons. She earned All-PSAC honors in the 5,000-meter run three times between the indoor and outdoor seasons and was the 5K indoor champion in 2008. She earned her fourth All-PSAC honor in the indoor 3,000-meter run during the 2008 championships.

In 2008, Hackenberg qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 5,000-meter run after setting the school record in the event at the Penn Relays. She took 17th overall in the Olympic Development race at 17:16.42.

Hackenberg was a three-time Bloomsburg Scholar-Athlete in the classroom and a five-time PSAC Top-10 honoree. She earned the accolades twice during the cross country season, twice during outdoor track, and once for indoor track & field. She is the only five-time PSAC Top-10 honoree for the Huskies.

Hackenberg was the Bloomsburg Joanne McComb Underclass Female Athlete of the Year following the 2004-05 athletic year. She was a Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2008 and a Third Team AA in 2007. Hackenberg added USTFCCCA individual scholar-athlete five times and was a member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Women's Track & Field teams in 2006 and 2007.
